Overall, Loco the Monkey is a decent game. It might be a tad too childish for some players, but it offers mood-lifting bright colors and a cheeky attitude. The math model can take unaware players by surprise though, and the advertised potential was only reached in 100 billion test spins.
Loco has probably gotten his name due to his rather insane “lazy eye” stare, but the frisky little chap stands for all the action in this game. Loco the Monkey Features
The monkey, Loco, is the wild symbol (in case that was unclear), and he can land on reels 2 to 5 only. Loco will thus step in for all regular pay symbols, but he also plays a very central part in the game’s bonus features.
When you land at least 4 Loco wilds in the base game, you trigger the More Monkeys Respins feature. All the Loco wilds that triggered the feature become frozen in place, while the remaining reel positions on reels 2 to 5 spin again. Any new monkey wild that lands becomes sticky too, and this awards another respin.
The feature goes on as long as you keep landing new monkey wilds, but you cannot trigger the bonus round via the respins feature. You will see that reel 1, which cannot land monkey wilds, will spin for the duration of the feature. This will be the last reel to stop once you don’t land any more Loco wilds, and it will thus have the final say in how much you win.
The scatter symbol is a golden monkey idol with gemstone eyes. You need to land the scatter on reels 1, 2 and 3 on the same spin to trigger the Monkey Frenzy bonus round. While the advertised 6,829x potential is theoretically possible in 100 billion spins, a full screen of wilds and bananas pay “only” 500x. With far more than a bit of luck with the bonus round wild multipliers, you are probably looking at a realistic max win potential no higher than 3,000x here. That being said, the Hold & Respin feature can pay out pretty decently when you’re lucky, and even bigger wins are possible in the bonus round.
