This title is a take on the popular Hold and Win formula, and it all takes place across 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines.

The theme is about all things Irish, and we have to say that we’re actually quite impressed by how the game looks. The colorful symbols go a long way here, and the final result is one of the better-looking Irish-themed games out there at present. Given how stiff the competition is in that niche, that’s actually quite an achievement!

Let’s now move onto the game’s mathematical model. The volatility level is medium-high, but it’s hard to estimate what the actual jackpot is. We can tell you, though, that you can enjoy the proceedings for all sorts of stakes between £0.10 and £100 per spin. That’s all fine and well, but we unfortunately have to add that the slot’s default theoretical RTP clocks in at just 94.52%, which is pretty awful.

Limerick Lightning Slot Features

The paytable of Limerick Lightning features a set of 8 pay symbols, which are divided evenly into 4 low pays and 4 high pays. For the former, there are all four card suits, and they pay up to 7.5x your bet for a combination. For the latter, there are horseshoes, smoking pipes, pints of beer, and lucky hats. Lucky hats are the most valuable symbols, and you’ll get a 40x payout for a set of five.

In addition to pay symbols, there are also Rainbow Wilds, Pot of Gold Scatters, and Money symbols. Rainbow Wilds are the most straightforward of those, as all they do is that they substitute for pay symbols in order to finish winning combos.

Finding 3 Pot of Gold Scatters triggers the Free Spins feature, which will give you 5 free spins to start with. That’s a pretty low total, but you can get 3 extra free spins by landing a set of 3 Pot of Gold Scatters during the feature. Even better, though, you’ll always get at least 3 adjacent reels synchronized, which makes winning much easier!

Landing 6 or more Money symbols, meanwhile, will take you to the Lightning Spins feature, which is the game’s take on the classic Hold and Win formula. You’ll get 3 respins to begin with, and each new Money symbol that lands automatically resets the counter back to 3. You’ll collect all Money symbols at the end of the feature, of course, and there are also special Cashpot Money symbols that can net you three of the game’s four jackpots. Those are called Mini, Major, and Mega, and they are worth 30x, 100x, and 250x your bet, respectively.

Filling the entire board with symbols during the Lightning Spins feature will then net you the Grand jackpot, which is worth 500x your stake!

Review Summary

Honestly, Limerick Lightning is a colorful and enjoyable Irish-themed slot that can entertain you for more than a single sitting. We like its Hold and Win bits, and its free spins with synced reels are absolutely delightful as well. Its default theoretical RTP is rather awful, though, and we most certainly can’t recommend that you play the game with it.
