This slot game adds to a collection of games, now complemented with another slot release, a branded one. The previous attempt at branded slots failed to gather much recognition, so let's see how this version fares.

Cluster Gems - Slot Outlook

Although both games are built on completely different mechanics, there are some similarities to the outer look. Everything is toned in red and orange to match the brand's style, and the backdrop is similar in both cases. However, one thing that has drastically changed is the reel canvas, which is now a massive 7x7 grid. As the title implies, the Cluster Gems slot makes use of the Cluster Pays engine, and here the symbols pay when formed in blocks of 5 and more horizontally or vertically adjacent symbols. The soundtrack has also switched from an upbeat tune to a more relaxing one, though, it picks up the tempo when you hit wins or bonus features.

This Cluster Gems slot comes with a pretty standard betting range. Players drop in by setting stakes from £0.1 to £10 per spin. The volatility is in the medium range, and the RTP is beneath the average level at 95%. What's most impressive is the game's maximum potential, which provides wins of up to 50,000x the stake, or £250,000, whichever comes first.

True to the title, the pay symbols in Cluster Gems are presented mostly by gems. On the lower side, we see four precious stones shaped as card suits, and the higher-paying lot is made up of bigger sapphires, rubies, diamonds, and brand logo chips. Wins are scored by landing clusters of 5 or more symbols, and clusters of 25+ symbols are worth from 25x to 1,000x your bet. There's also a Wild symbol included that substitutes for any other regular symbol to help you achieve wins, and matching 49 instances of Wild symbols on the grid also awards a payout of 1,000x the stake.

Cluster Gems - Bonus Features

Central to the gameplay is the modifier meter mechanic, which can award 4 different reel modifiers during the base game, as well as trigger the Free Spins round. Anyway, let's start walking you through the Cascading Wins feature, which is the key to success here. Whenever you score a payout, all winning symbols get removed from the grid. Then, the remaining symbols tumble down, and new symbols appear to fill empty spaces.

Moreover, all winning symbols contribute to the Symbol Bank, which triggers the corresponding modifier on a losing cascade once the required number of symbols is collected.

• 20 Symbols -  Burst. Removes all symbols from the grid except for Wilds and a randomly chosen gem symbol.
• 40 Symbols - Colossal. Puts a 3x3 Mega Symbol to a random position on the grid.
• 60 Symbols - Wild Times. Adds a random number of Wild or Multiplier Wild symbols to the grid. Wins with multiple Multiplier Wilds combine and produce bigger Multipliers.
• 80 Symbols - Gem Strike. Upgrades all instances of a random gem symbol in view into the top-paying logo symbol.
• 100 Symbols - Cluster Falls. Awards 10 Free Spins.

During the Cluster Falls feature, a progressive Multiplier comes into play. It starts at 1x and grows by +1 after each cascade, no limits. On top of that, the number of symbols needed to trigger the reel modifiers is lower during the bonus game, with Burst, Colossal, Wild Times, and Gem Stike features triggering at 15, 30, 45, and 60 symbols respectively. Collecting 75 symbols though will retrigger the Cluster Falls feature and award +10 extra free spins.

Cluster Gems - Slot Verdict

Not to say that Cluster Gems is a bad slot, but it's not a gem-tastic either. The previous release at least had some sort of unique features, namely the Megaways Wheel, which added some originality. The Cluster Gems slot, unfortunately, doesn't bring anything new and sports all familiar features and mechanics. Anyway, those into the Cluster thing will surely appreciate the effort since the gameplay is fun. However, it's the math model that's worth mentioning, as the staggering 50,000x potential will be the main reason why players might feel drawn to spin the reels on it.
