We’ve seen plenty of dragon themed slots, but few come with such an elaborate intro as this title. The intro narrator sounds like someone from an old-school Hollywood trailer, and it certainly piqued our curiosity. The blue/white Ice Dragon seems inspired by the asian tradition, and he floats calmly up and down between feature triggers.
Speaking of, this is certainly a feature rich affair, but there is no bonus round. Like a typical grid slot, the gameplay is all about filling the Ice Crystal Charger with winning symbols to trigger modifiers. Wilds frame positions per cascading sequence, and these turn wild when the winning symbols meter is maxed out. Multiplier frames up to x8 can also be generated, and this is how you’re most likely to crack the 6,000x potential.
Legend of the Ice Dragon Slot Features
You win by landing 5 to 30+ matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the grid, and the premium symbols pay between 75 and 500 x your stake for 30+ in a cluster. All winning clusters are removed from the grid, and new and/or existing symbols will then drop down to fill the gaps. The cascading wins feature goes on as long as you keep winning.
The ‘W’ wild symbols lock in place an Ice Frame wherever they land, and if wilds land inside an Ice Frame the multiplier of the frame is increased by +1. The frame multiplier can go as high as x8, but only the highest multiplier will be applied to winning clusters. Ice Frames reset between cascading sequences, and the frames remain inactive until the Dragon Blast feature is triggered (see below).
You can get randomly triggered Freezing modifiers at any given time, and they work as follows:
- Hailstorm - destroys 3 randomly chosen symbol types, as well as up to 5 adjacent symbols, or turn up to 9 of them wild.
- Avalanche - destroys all instances of 2 symbol types, and adds up to 7 wilds in their place.
- Blizzard - destroys or turns up to 5 symbols wild.
The Ice Crystal Charger is seen on the left-hand side, and all winning symbols are collected in this meter. You need 20, 40, 60 and 80 collected winning symbols in a single cascading sequence to trigger the modifiers, and these are as follows (in chronological order):
- Tail Lash - turns all present premium symbols into a matching random premium symbol.
- Ice Scorch - turns 3 to 6 randomly selected symbols wild.
- Destruction - removes all low-value symbols from the grid.
- Dragon Blast - turns all symbols inside Ice Frames wild, and activates the frame multiplier.
You can “overcharge” the Crystal Charger via lengthy cascades, and you get +2 Ice Frames per 10 symbols you collect above 80.

The narrated intro made a solid first impression, and Legend of the Ice Dragon is an overall decent grid slot. Featurewise, it's obviously inspired by a similar release, but the two themes are miles apart. Either way, both games are mainly about racking up as many wild frames as possible in a single cascading sequence, as well as maxing out the frame multipliers.
It stops at x8 in this game, and the highest default RTP, as well as the 6,000x potential, are both a tad lower in this release. You get plenty of modifier action from the Crystal Charger, in addition to the random modifiers, and fans of the cluster pays grid slot genre will probably be pleased. Nothing too revolutionary is on display here though, but a somewhat oriental looking ice dragon is perhaps a bit of a rarity.
