Legacy of Oz Review
Triple Edge Studios has seen success with Book of Oz, and Legacy of Oz follows a similar path. At first glance, the differences may be subtle, but the visual presentation has been refined. The math model has been tweaked, featuring customizable RTP ranges and an increased max bet from £25 to £50 per spin.
The Hyperspins concept remains consistent with the original game, but the trademarked name was introduced later. Spinning individual reels for a price can be helpful but requires caution. As a remake of Book of Oz, Legacy of Oz's main advantage is needing only 2 scatters to retrigger the bonus round, granting an extra expanding symbol. This small change significantly impacted our test session (see video below).
Legacy of Oz Slot Features
The Hyperspins feature allows you to spin individual reels for a calculated price per spin. This is only available in the base game, and it can be useful to trigger the bonus round. Hyperspins with 2 scatters can be costly, so use this feature cautiously.
You trigger the Bonus Round by landing 3+ scatters, and you get 8, 12 or 20 free spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. A symbol is randomly selected as the special expanding symbol. The special symbol expands to award a win after the regular payouts, without needing to land adjacent or start from reel 1.
Retrigger the free spins by landing 2 to 5 scatters, awarding 4, 8, 12 or 20 extra spins, respectively. You also get 1 additional special expanding symbol per retrigger. If multiple special symbols land sufficiently to create wins, they expand one after another.
The 200 Spins Legacy of Oz Slot Experience
Here's a highlights video. We retriggered the bonus round multiple times, turning almost all symbols into special expanding symbols. The bonus round starts 2 minutes into the video, lasting 15 minutes. Enjoy!
Review Summary
Triple Edge took a cautious approach with this release, which is understandable since Book of Oz was a success. Legacy of Oz is similar, featuring the trademarked Hyperspins concept. The predecessor had this feature too, but called it a ‘Respin feature’.
The main difference is needing only 2 scatters to retrigger the bonus round, making it easier to accumulate special expanding symbols. This happened in our test session, but isn't guaranteed. The 5,000x max win remains, but the default RTP is slightly below the original. Overall, a solid release that’s potentially the better option.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Unlimited Hyperspins (for a calculated price) | Beware of customizable RTP ranges |
| Bonus round with chosen expanding symbol | |

If you enjoy Legacy of Oz Slot, consider:
Book of Oz - The initial release from Triple Edge Studios, featuring the Hyperspin feature without the trademarked name. The bonus round is similar, but requires 3 scatters to retrigger. The 96.31 % RTP is slightly higher.
Sisters of Oz WowPot - Another game from Triple Edge Studios’ Oz series, but not a 'book slot'. Benefit from stacked symbols that combine into 3x4 jumbo blocks, and the bonus round offers jumbo blocks on each spin, with a 2x multiplier. The max win is 3,600x your stake.
Legacy of Dead - Play’n Go’s sequel to Book of Dead, offering up to 9 expanding symbols in the bonus round. This happens through retriggers, but requires 3 scatters to retrigger.
