Our Verdict
King Kong Cash Even Bigger Bananas has been a roaring success, and it's therefore no surprise they've decided to give it a festive makeover. At least King Kong Christmas Even Bigger Bananas is not the pure reskin job I expected, making it an above-average holiday offering. While it's not a complete overhaul either, it delivers enough new features to make it a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit.
I have to admit, I’m not completely sold on the new backdrop though. In fact, it comes across as a bit of a mess. The snowy jungle scene feels cluttered and unclear, and I think they might have been better off simply adding a sprinkle of snow to the original tropical paradise. However, it’s hard to be too fussy about it when they've taken the time and effort to make this an original game with additional features.
The Power Play mode is a welcome addition that many players will probably appreciate, though it may not be available in all regions (or at least not in the UK). It essentially narrows your focus to the cash collection feature and bonus round triggers, which can be quite exciting. I would have liked to see some stats on the bonus round hit rate though, both with and without Power Play. Unfortunately, they aren't known for being transparent about those kinds of stats.
The Go Bananas Pick Bonus game is a nice touch, offering a decent Christmas gift every now and then in the form of a potentially lucrative modifier. However, the 93 % RTP seems like a steep price to pay for these extra features. It makes me wonder if they intentionally lowered the RTP to avoid this version outshining the original. Either way, they could’ve been a bit more generous in the spirit of the season.
