King Kong Cash Jackpot King Review
This version of King Kong Cash now includes a jackpot feature, meaning you can win 3 different progressive jackpots during gameplay. This makes the game more thrilling, as the potential has been raised. The biggest jackpot can reach considerable amounts.
This feature adds a new dimension to the game, as you know that 1 of the 3 jackpots can be triggered. The game plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 ways to win. The RTP has been lowered to feed the progressive jackpots, and the volatility is slightly higher than the original.
You can look forward to base game reel modifiers, and you’ll also benefit from bonus games and free spins features. There is seldom a dull moment, so it’s hard to imagine you’ll “fall asleep at the reels”.
LogoWhat are the bonus features?
The features are the same as the original game, except for the addition of the Jackpot King feature. There is plenty to cover here, so let’s jump right into it.
Random Reel Modifiers
Whenever Kong wakes up from his slumber, you’re in for a random bonus treat. He will activate 1 of the 4 following modifiers for you:
- Banana Cannon Wilds - bananas are fired onto the reels, giving you a random number of wilds and a new payout calculation.
- Golden Barrel Super Spin - exploding barrels are thrown onto the reels, and they all turn into the matching symbols for a new win calculation.
- King Kong Streak - the big ape whacks the reels after a winning spin, making the winning symbols sticky for a respin. The process continues as long as you keep adding new matching symbols to the mix.
- Bonus Boost - bonus symbols are added randomly to the reels, which increases your chances of triggering the Bonus Wheel feature.
The Bonus Wheel feature
You need at least 3 bonus symbols to trigger 1 of the 5 different bonus features in this game. We’ll start with the 3 bonus games, and then talk about the 2 free spins features below. The Bonus Wheel will always decide which of the 5 features you trigger, but you can also gamble to upgrade your feature, if you wish. By this you risk winning only a mystery cash consolation prize, so choose carefully. Here’s what you can get:
- Barrel Blast - is a classic pick’em bonus game where you need to match up 3 symbols. This wins you a prize, while 3 golden monkeys takes you directly into the Big Money Bonus feature.
- King Kong Trail - plays out like a game, and you pick up cash prizes as you advance on a cash trail. A bomb will stop you in your tracks, while a Golden Monkey takes you to the Big Money feature.
- Big Money feature - you’ll spin a barrel bonus wheel and win multiplier prizes. After, you’ll pick a banana to reveal either a bomb which stops the feature, or a Golden Monkey which gives you another go. You keep spinning like this to win more prizes, and payouts up to 1,000x your stake is possible here.
Jackpot King feature
There are 3 different progressive jackpots up for grabs here, and these are won randomly while you spin the reels. This adds an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay, and the 3 jackpots are Royal pot, Regal pot and Jackpot King, the latter being the big one. Keep in mind that these are local progressive jackpots, which means that they build up individually per casino that carries the game.
Free spins in King Kong Cash Jackpot King
The 2 free spins features are also triggered via the bonus wheel mentioned above, and we’ll take a closer look at them here:
- Empire Free Spins - you get 10 free spins with roaming wilds. You’ll collect golden crowns here to get more spins and more modifiers, as you increase in levels.
- Golden Kong Free Spins - takes place on a new set of reels also, with 40 ways to win and 10 free spins to collect wilds with. All collected wilds will be released in a Super Spin towards the end. You’ll then choose 1 of 4 barrels. A bomb ends the feature, while a Golden Monkey retriggers it.
How to play
The gameplay and interface is pretty much the same here as it was on the original game, but we’ll walk you through the essentials anyway. If you have not played this game at all before, or if you’re new to online slots, you might wanna pay attention. Experienced players can probably skip this part, or skim through it at best.
You can start by clicking the hamburger menu down in the left-hand side corner, and then open up the paytable via the grid icon that’s first in line. This is a static paytable that does not update according to your chosen bet level, and you need to divide the respective symbol values by 20 (i.e. the number of fixed paylines) to see how much each symbol combination pays per total stake.
Game workflowBoth the wild symbol and the game logo are the highest paying symbols here, and they pay 25x your stake for 5 on a payline. You’ll not really find any info about the bonus features in the paytable area, as they are simply listed up by name instead. You can use the red arrows on either side to navigate through the paytable, and also check out the paylines info at the end.
If you click the ? icon in the hamburger menu, you’ll open a new window in your browser. This is the game rules and player instructions window, which gives you a total overview of everything this game has to offer. Everything is laid out for you in a formal manner here, and it can be quite useful in case you wonder about anything.
You can toggle on/off the game sounds via the speaker icon, and then the time has come to choose your bet level between 10p and £500 per spin (depending on operator). You can set up the autoplay feature with between 10 to 100 spins, and also choose a win and loss limit to stop the feature in its tracks. It will always stop if you win the jackpot or trigger a bonus feature, and to spin the reels quickly you need to doubleclick the spin button while you play.

The 200 Spins King Kong Cash Jackpot King Experience
We really enjoyed the original game, so we were definitely looking forward to taking the Jackpot King version for our 200 spins test run. Having grown up with the Donkey Kong games, we get some sweet nostalgic vibes from the 3D animated gorilla, and we also wondered if one of the jackpots would come our way.
It took around 50 spins, with smaller wins between the dead spins, to finally trigger a bonus feature. The bonus wheel gave us the Barrel Blast feature, and we decided not to take our chances gambling with it this time. We got 2 stars in total, which increased the symbol values, and in the end we won 25x with 3 watermelon symbols.
Not the best start of a session admittedly, but things took a different turn from here on out. The King Kong Streak modifier was triggered right after, and a bunch of pirate parrots became sticky for a number of respins. We won only 7.5x from this, but not long after we triggered the Empire Free Spins feature via the bonus wheel.
WinWe started at the bottom of the Empire State Building, and did not manage to level up. We had 5 roaming wilds moving around on the reels midways through, but sometimes the wilds cover each other, so you benefit less. Anyway, we won a total of 96.9x our stake, which was decent, but did not even get close to a higher level of the building.
With a strong sense of déjà vu, we got the King Kong Streak modifier yet again after the bonus round, and this time the higher value tiger symbol was locked. We almost managed to fill the screen this time, but did not quite get there in the end. Still, we won 111x our stake from this modifier, which was our biggest single payout in the whole session. We also had a Golden Barrel Super Spin after this, which paid out 65x towards the end. Needless to say, we did not win any of the 3 progressive jackpots.
Review Summary
If you enjoyed the original King Kong Cash, there is no reason why you will not like the Jackpot King version also. The RTP has been lowered from 95.796 % to 95.01 % to feed the 3 progressive jackpots, and the volatility has also been heightened from the original low/medium to plain medium here. These are really the main differences, as the gameplay itself and all the bonus features are the same.
You will get plenty of varied action via the random modifiers in the base game, as these trigger a bit more often than the more heavy-duty bonus features. Wins up to 1,000x your stake is possible outside of the progressives, which is okay for this kind of volatility, and with 5 different bonus games/rounds you’ll have plenty to look forward to in this game. The progressive jackpots can be seen as the icing on the cake, or the cap stone that completes an already solid foundation.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 4 randomly triggered base game modifiers | RTP of 95.01 % |
| 3 bonus games and 2 free spins features | |
| 3 progressive Jackpot King jackpots |
