Khonsu God of Moon Mega Fire Blaze Review
Khonsu was a lunar deity in ancient Egypt, and the name directly translates to “traveller”. A somewhat unusual god to base a slot around perhaps, but visually the theme is pretty standard. The exception is the expanding sphinx wild. Khonsu: God of Moon features the enhanced Mega Fire Blaze Jackpot feature.
You can place bets between 10p and £500 per spin. The RTP of 96.49 % is above average, and the medium volatility makes this a good allrounder. We like how you can win multiple Grand Jackpots worth 2,000x each. Usually, you can win only 1 instance of the Grand Jackpot, so Khonsu: God of Moon is definitely worth checking out.
Khonsu: God of Moon Features
You trigger the Mega Fire Blaze feature when you land at least 6 cash moon symbols anywhere in sight. You will then be taken to a new 5x9 reel set where the 6 upper rows are locked. The triggering cash moon symbols become sticky on the 5x3 reel set that is already unlocked, and you are granted 3 respins for starters.
You unlock 1 row per 2 key symbols you land, and the key symbols turn into moon cash symbols. All cash moon symbols you land become sticky on the reels, and any symbol you land resets the respins tally to 3 again.
The top 3 rows (7, 8 and 9) come with multipliers of 2x, 5x and 10x, respectively, but only for cash symbols that land on the respective rows. The feature goes on until you’ve filled the entire grid with cash symbols, or you run out of respins. All cash moon values are then added together, but you can also win 4 different fixed jackpots.
Each jackpot can be won multiple times, and you win the jackpots by landing the corresponding jackpot star symbol on the grid:
- Grand Jackpot awards 2,000x your stake.
- Major Jackpot awards 500x your stake.
- Minor Jackpot awards 100x your stake.
- Mini Jackpot awards 20x your stake.
You trigger the Free Spins round when you land 3, 4 or 5 Sphinx scatters anywhere on the same spin. You will first be awarded a scatter win of 1x, 10x or 50x your stake, and then you get 6 free spins for starters.
Wild and moon symbols that land on the 3 middle reels will expand to fill the whole reel. This makes it easier to land winning combos, and also to trigger the Mega Fire Blaze feature. You can retrigger the feature with 6 extra free spins by landing 3 scatters, and there is no upper limit as to how many times you can do this.
The 200 Spins Khonsu: God of Moon Experience
The highlights video is more than 6 minutes long this time, and it starts with the free spins round being triggered by 5 scatters. We retrigger the feature almost immediately, and 3 expanding wilds lands us a bigger win. On the very last spin we land 2 moon key symbols, and they expand to trigger the Mega Fire Blaze jackpot feature. See it all for yourself by hitting the play button.
Review Summary
The Mega Fire Blaze feature has been seen before. However, being able to unlock rows to get multipliers still adds a layer of excitement to the standard Hold & Respins feature. You don’t even have to fill the whole grid to win the 2,000x Grand Jackpot, as it can be revealed via the star jackpot symbols, just like the smaller jackpots. This means that multiple Grand Jackpots can be landed in a single feature.
That ripped expanding wild sphinx dude looks mighty badass with his roaring black panther, and expanding key/cash moon symbols is also a nice touch. A potential total of 45 cash moons certainly adds up to decent sums, not least with the multipliers involved. Throw in a jackpot or two, and you’re looking at a pretty solid potential. Despite the overused ancient egypt theme, Khonsu: God of Moon breathes new life into the series.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Streak Respins w/ unlockable multiplier rows | Somewhat generic egypt theme |
