It was only a matter of time before an Infinity Reels installment in the Hypernova series was released. Instead of taking the opportunity to do something special, this game is simply a reskin job with a weaker math model. The medium to high volatility is a tad less brutal, but the cosmic vibe is still going strong.
As usual, it’s all about piling on an indefinite amount of extra reels, and a progressive symbol multiplier increases by +1 per added reel. The Respins feature is the big highlight, and it comes with extra reels, up to 2,000x jackpot symbols and the same 12+ added reels infinity bonus of 888x that’s also available in the base game. Overall, nothing new to see here, but fans of the Hypernova range might be pleased.
Features
You need at least 5 matching symbols to create a win, and 5 of the top-tier diamond symbol awards 0.25x your stake. All symbols pay as scatters, and the win is calculated by the number of participating symbols multiplied by the symbol value. The nucleus wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols, but it does not hold any value of its own.
The Infinite Reels engine naturally takes center stage, and a win that involves the rightmost reel means that a new reel is added on the right-hand side. If the new reel improves the current win, another reel is added, and so it goes until you land a non-winning reel. Then everything resets back the regular 3x4 grid size again.
The symbol multiplier increases by +1 for every extra reel you add, and the multiplier is applied to the winning symbols when the reel-adding sequence comes to an end. There is no upper limit to this multiplier, but it will reset to x1 again as the whole grid resets between sequences. If you manage to pile on at least 12 reels, you win the 888x Infinity Bonus.
The Respin Bonus is triggered when you land at least 6 money symbols in the same spin sequence. It plays out like a hold-and-win style feature, and the triggering symbols become sticky on a new cleared grid. You get 3 respins, and each new non-blank symbol that lands reset the tally to 3 again.
If you manage to fill a reel with cash symbols, a new reel is piled on, and there is no upper limit to how many extra reels you can get. The cash symbols come with prizes between 1 and 100 x your stake, and you can also land bronze, silver, gold and platinum jackpot symbols. These are worth 10, 50, 250 and 2,000 x your stake, respectively, and all cash symbols and/or jackpot symbols are summed up as the feature ends.
Depending on your jurisdiction, it might be possible to buy the bonus round. This feature is definitely not available for UK players however, and it will set you back 100x your stake if applicable. Review Summary
We have to say that it’s a bit disappointing that the developers decided to simply make a reskin of another Infinity Reels game. Pairing two concepts that should be close to the developers heart, namely the Hypernova range and their homegrown Infinity Reels engine, was bound to happen, but we expected the result to be a bit more spectacular. Instead, this game comes with an underwhelming potential and mediocre gameplay.
The streak respins style Hypernova Bonus is decent enough. Adding reels can land you the 888x infinity jackpot, in addition to the 2,000x platinum jackpot, but there is nothing really new to see here. Infinity sounds cool and all, but we believe having a finite number of possible extra reels with adequate rewards would give players a sense of purpose and closure that’s lacking when everything keeps resetting all the time.
