Highway Legends Review
There aren’t too many gentlemen left these days, and gentlemen thieves are hardly a dime a dozen either. That’s the best way to characterize the protagonists in Highway Legends. They make their way around the countryside holding up coaches.
What has been conjured up here is a decent mid-level casual gaming slot, but it will not be for hardcore gamblers and anyone looking for life-changing or even solid payouts. The 1,250x potential is hardly impressive in this day and age, but you get a decent Cash Collect feature to liven up the base game. You can choose between semi-sticky roaming wilds or full-reel stacked wilds when the bonus round triggers, but overall this was nothing too memorable except for the somewhat unusual theme.
Highway Legends Slot Features
The royal symbols pay between 4 and 5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, while the mediums to high level symbols pay between 10 and 30 x your stake for the same. The Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve line wins, and it also pays 50x your stake should you land 5 wilds on a payline.
The Cash Collect Feature triggers when you land Cash Bag Symbols on reels 1 to 4, as well as a Cash Collect Symbol on reel 5. The cash bags come with values between 2 and 30 x your stake per symbol, and all cash bag prizes in view are collected and paid if the Cash Collect symbol is also present. This feature can only trigger in the base game, however.
You need 3 scatter symbols in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and they will land on reels 1, 3, and 5 only. You will then get to choose between 2 bonus round features, and these are Stacked Wild Hold Up Free Spins or Roaming Rider Free Spins. None of the bonus rounds can be retriggered. Landing scatters on reels 1 and 3 in the base game will sometimes trigger a respin of reel 5, which may help trigger the bonus round.
The Roaming Rider Wilds Bonus Round awards 15 free spins, and wilds are sticky for exactly one spin when they appear. The wilds can also move to random positions for the next spin, and you can get up to 13 wilds. Wilds from the triggering spin are not carried over into this bonus round, however.
The Stacked Wild Hold Up Bonus Round comes with 10 free spins, and you can land fully stacked wilds on any reel during this feature. This equates to having 3 single position wilds on the relevant reel or reels, and they are removed for next spin. Stacked wilds pay the same as regular wilds if you land 3 to 5 on a payline.
Review Summary
It’s probably more pleasant to be robbed by a well-mannered, well-dressed thief than by a brute, just as you don’t mind losing a bit of money as long as the slot keeps you entertained. Highway Legends comes with stylish characters for sure, but there is very little new or innovative to see here in terms of features. The cash collect system you get in the base game has been seen countless times before.
It’s still a decent feature that can lead to occasional top-up wins, but that’s really the best you can hope for from the base game. Having a choice of bonus rounds is never wrong, and the roaming semi-sticky wilds system is an okay feature as well. Nothing too exciting, perhaps, and we prefer the stacked wilds feature to be honest. The max win is capped at 1,250x your stake either way, which cements this as a decent mid-range game that cannot really escape sinking into the swamp of mediocrity after a few sessions.
