Golden Glyph 3 Review

All 3 installments in this trilogy are visually impressive, and Golden Glyph 3 is perhaps the most stunning of them all. It comes with a majestic view of the pyramids in the background, and the pace of the game is excellent as well. This series hasn’t really been as successful as we thought it would be though, and perhaps the whole Power Glyph system is a bit of an acquired taste. Either way, fans of the series will hardly be disappointed by this release, but it doesn’t really revolutionize anything either.

It builds on the same core concepts as the first two installments, and you get a Power Glyph wild that triggers up to 4 different Power-Up modifiers when part of a win. The bonus round comes with a Golden Glyph x2 multiplier wild, and the multiplier doubles every time you go through all the Power-Ups. This is also how you win extra spins, and the 10,000x potential is a bit disappointing compared to what you get in the second and even the first installment.

Golden Glyph 3 Slot Features

The low value symbols, Bowl, Water, Reeds, Eye, Ankh, and Cobra, and the medium symbols, Hatshepsut, Osiris, Cleopatra, and Tutankhamun, pay between 15 and 40 x your stake for 15+ in a cluster. The top-tier Horus symbol pays 100x your stake for the same, and winning symbols are removed and replaced via the Tumbling Reels mechanic. This process repeats for as long as you keep winning. Chaos Cluster symbols will form a winning cluster even if they are only partially connected.

The Power Glyph is spawned in one empty position per cluster win, and it serves as a Wild symbol that steps in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve cluster wins. If a Power Glyph partakes in a win, the next Bonus Power-Up in the meter seen on the left will be activated. This means that no more Power Glyph symbols will spawn in that tumbling sequence.

The Power-Up features trigger when you hit a non-winning cascade, and they work as follows:

• Gigantic Wild - turns a whole reel into a wild symbol.
• A Storm of Wilds - awards 2 to 4 wilds randomly spawned on the grid.
• Destruction - removes a bunch of low value symbols from the grid.
• Transformation - all symbols connected to a randomly selected symbol turns into that symbol.
• Free Spins - triggers the bonus round (which is the last Power-Up).

The Bonus Round comes with 6 free spins, and you get +2 extra spins if you manage to get to the last Power-Up during the feature. In addition, the Golden Glyph multiplier is doubled, and this symbol serves as a special wild. It starts with an x2 multiplier, and it moves to a new position per free spin. The Golden Glyph will only appear in the bonus round, and non-UK players can purchase the feature for 65x the stake (top-tier RTP of 96.5 %).

Review Summary

The Golden Glyph series has been fun to follow, and the original game was the first flirtation with the cluster pays system. The follow-up game took everything to a new level, including the visuals, and the same can be said about this third installment. The visuals and animations are impressive, but Golden Glyph 3 doesn’t really move the series forward in any kind of revolutionary way. This is a tad disappointing, of course, and the same can be said about the significantly lower potential.

While being able to win 10,000x your stake is hard to complain about, the potential is even lower than what you get in the first game. The 65x Bonus Buy option tells you all you need to know about the average total win, and a so-called Epic Win of 100x comes with a 1 in 850-1055 spins hit rate. We have seen more favorable math models for sure, but Golden Glyph 3 is still a solid and entertaining game. It’s fun to unleash the different modifiers during tumble sequences, and the golden glyph multiplier can do damage in the bonus round when luck is on your side.
