Gold's Guardian Review
This fantasy-themed game features a dragon. You’ll see a red creature animated on the left, and it animates whenever a dragon symbol lands inside any of the Locked Frames you collect during base game play.
The guardian of the gold turns framed symbol positions wild, and you get more of this in the bonus round. Every 6th spin comes with a Super Bonus Round, where you have a chance to fill the reels with Locked Frames. The wild is the highest paying symbol, but the potential is not very high.
Gold's Guardian Slot Features
Dragon head symbols land and leave a golden ring behind on their respective reel positions, called a ‘Locked Frame’. You’ll stack up these Locked Frames in random positions until a Dragon Head lands inside a Locked Frame. This transforms the Dragon Head to a wild, and the wild spreads to all adjacent Locked Frames. This is the Bursting Wilds feature.
You trigger the regular Bonus Round by landing 3, 4 or 5 golden dragon egg scatters. This awards 8, 12 or 20 free spins, and any Locked Frames from the base game are carried over into the bonus round. You will now benefit from 1 to 5 new Locked Frames per spin, and they remain in place until they turn wild. There is no way to retrigger the feature.
Every 6th time you trigger the bonus round, you get the Super Free Spins feature instead. This awards 12, 15 or 25 super free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, and you will see a bonus wheel spin to award between 1 and 5 extra Locked Frames per spin. In addition, you get 4, 6, 8 or 10 Locked Frames spread out in a pattern formation per spin, increasing your chances for larger wild wins.
The 200 Spins Gold's Guardian Slot Experience
The video starts off with a series of dead spins, until we trigger both the Wilds Bursts feature and the bonus round at the same time. This happens around the 1-minute mark, and you can see the feature play out for the remainder of the 2:13 minute long highlights video. Simply hit the play button below, and you’re good to go!
Review Summary
This is a visually decent game, the animated dragon on the left-hand side is impressive. However, there are some drawbacks. The Locked Frame wild transformation feature is a bit limited compared to similar games, where all frames are guaranteed to turn wild.
Many times getting wilds on reel 4 and/or 5 will yield nothing but an animation that gets more tiresome the more ineffective it’s perceived to be. The Super Bonus Round is your best hope for larger payouts, but high volatility combined with a low potential is not very impressive. Overall, there is not enough here to compel experienced punters.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Locked Frame wild transformation | Beware of customizable RTP ranges |
| FS w/ up to 5 Locked Frames per spin | High volatility and low max win potential |
| Super FS w/ even more Locked Frames | Max win cap varies with RTP |
