With the Fruits & Sweets slot, the developer makes its own take on the popular format first introduced in the legendary slot, which up to date keeps inspiring makeovers and copycats. The one under review falls into the latter category, however, offering the exact same gaming experience for the players but in a different wrapping.
It’s already been four years since the iconic release hit the market, and it still looks pretty dope, with decent graphics and everything. Fruits & Sweets, in turn, is set to see the world in 2023, but frankly speaking, it rather looks like a game from a past decade. It seems really outdated with simple graphics and animations. Well, what’s actually the point of copying a game when it can’t even hook players with at least a better design?
Set against a camomile field, the Fruits & Sweets slot plays out across a 5x3 reel layout, where you need to match at least 5 of the same symbols anywhere in view to score a payout. The pay symbols are in ascending order cherries, plums, lemons, apples, yellow, purple, and blue sweets, as well as a heart-shaped candy. Combinations of 7+ fruit symbols are worth 3.33x your bet, while candies pay from 6.66x to 21.66x your bet. Finally, there are special lollipop symbols, which are Wilds. They can only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 and substitute for any of the regulars in winning combinations. Plus, they have the highest value among all of the symbols, paying 33.33x the stake for seven-of-a-kind.
Traditionally, each win you achieve triggers a cascade. All winning symbols get removed from the reels, the remaining symbols fall to the bottom, and new ones tumble down from above to fill the gaps. If new winning combos are made, the cascading process goes on, no limits.
Mathematically-wise, Fruits & Sweets is also no match for its inspiration. The variance is similar, namely medium-high, but the maximum win capability is just disappointing, clocking in at only 2,468x the bet, which is almost ten times lower than the original's power. The RTP is solid at 95.85%, and bets from £0.3 to £30 are accepted.

Those familiar with the genre would already know what to expect from the gameplay of the Fruits & Sweets slot. As usual, central to the game is the Free Spins feature. Land 3 or more Scatter symbols on the reels, and you get 15 spins to start with. Another 3+ Scatters appearing during the bonus award an additional +15 spins.
In the free games, new balloon symbols come into play, available on any of the reels. Whenever one lands, it takes a random Multiplier value of either 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 15x, or 100x. The Multipliers on the reels are held for the cascading sequence. Then, all Multiplier values in view are summed up and applied to the total win of the spin.
Additional winnings can be scored in the Gamble feature, offered after any win you achieve during the base game. Here, the objective is to guess the color or the suit of the next drawn card. Guessing the color doubles the gambled amount, and guessing the suit quadruples it. You can gamble multiple times per feature, up to a limit of 50x the bet.

There’s not a ton else to say about the Fruits & Sweets slot. It’s mediocre at best, offering nothing new but simply sticking to a well-known winning formula, but doing it in a pretty weird way, providing a way lower max win and a much worse design.
