It seems there are still more joker-themed games available, and it wasn’t too long ago that we tried the original Free Reelin' Joker. It was a simple experience, but with reel-adding action. That feature has been toned down in Free Reelin' Joker 1000, which comes with a coin win system on the single payline 3-reels grid. Numbers land to determine the total coin win, and no-value blanks can interfere.

We don’t mind a simple, classic-inspired fruit machine once in a while, but we do mind the lowered 200x max win. It can only be landed in the bonus spin feature nonetheless, while 104x your stake is the most you can hope for in the base game. The same goes for the Chance Spin feature that triggers frequently in the main game, and overall this was not really an improvement over the original release.

The numbers 0, 1, 2, and 5 can land on the single payline grid, and the Joker triggers the Free Reelin’ Bonus whenever it appears. You can also land blank symbols, and these have no value. The combination of 1 to 3 digit numbers pay the corresponding amount in coins, and the maximum of 520 coins equals 104x your stake.

Landing 3 zeros on the single payline of the 3 reels triggers the Chance Spin feature. The reels will then spin backwards, and this may land you a prize. The max prize is still 520 coins, which still amounts to 104x your stake.

You need only a single Joker in view to trigger the Free Reelin' Bonus feature. Reel 1 will then come with the number 1 for the free spin, and one extra reel is also added to the grid for the free spin. You will land only blanks and/or zeroes for this bonus spin, and up to 1,000 coins can be won at best. This cracks the max win potential of 200x your stake, and the feature cannot be retriggered.

Review Summary

It’s interesting to note that the original Free Reelin' Joker comes with a 1,000x potential, while Free Reelin' Joker 1000 offers only 200x your stake. The 1000 in the title is derived from the fact that you can win up to 1,000 coins, but we have to say that we prefer the first game if we had to choose between the two. It was a simpler game with less features, and thereby truer to its fruit machine roots. Not that Free Reelin' Joker 1000 is overly complicated either, but the 200x max win was hard to get over.

The coin win system with different numbers awarding the corresponding win is unusual, but it can hardly lead to anything significant anyway. Up to 104x your stake is possible outside of the Free Reelin’ Bonus Round, which will impress exactly nobody, and the Chance Spin feature will many times leave you empty handed. Free Reelin' Joker 1000 might appeal to a narrow niche of classic slot connoisseurs, but it will pass by unnoticed by most players.
