Flodder Review
Unless you’re either Dutch and somewhat middle aged, or extremely interested in cult comedies from the 80s, you will most likely have no idea what Flodder is supposed to be. This branded release revolves around the 1986 movie by the same title, and it’s about a dysfunctional working class family that’s moved to an upper class neighborhood because toxic waste is found beneath their original home.
This, of course, leads to all sorts of complications and hilarious situations, and if you’re interested there are follow-up movies and even a TV-series that aired for 5 years in the 90s. The Flodder game comes with some antics as well, with random wilds in the base game and an up-front feature and/or extra spins pick game when the bonus round triggers. The 6,500x potential is solid, but you will be dealing with RTP ranges and a top-tier RTP that’s a tad below average.
Flodder Game Features
The 5 premium character symbols, consisting of the Whiskey Dog, Zoon Kees, Dochter Kees, Johnnie and Grandma Flodder, pay between 8 to 50 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. There are 3 different wild symbols in this game, Sjakie, Grandma and Johnnie, and these come into play during features covered below. The wilds pay the same as the top-tier Grandma symbol if 5 should land on a payline.
The Grandpa Flodder feature triggers at random times both in the base game and in the bonus round, and you’ll then see the old man cross the screen waving his stick around. He also drops 2 to 12 wild symbols randomly placed on the grid, which may lead to a win.
The Bonus Round triggers when 3 scatters land anywhere in view, and this awards 10 free spins. Before the feature plays out however, you get 3 picks from a lineup of liquor bottles, and this awards extra spins and modifiers. Any extra triggering scatter above the minimum of 3 awards +1 extra pick. There are 20 bottles to pick from, and here’s an overview:
- Extra spins - awards 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 extra free spins.
- Wins Multiplier - increases the win multiplier by +1 or +2.
- Sjakie Wild - adds a 1x3-sized super wild to reels 2 and/or 4.
- Wild Johnnie - upgrades the Johnnie symbol to a wild.
- Grandma Wild - upgrades the Ma Fodder symbol to a wild.
The win multiplier applies to all wins during the bonus round, and you can get a multiplier up to x8 at the most. There are no scatter symbols in play during the feature, so you cannot retrigger the bonus round or win extra spins after the bottle pick game is over.

Review Summary
It probably helps a lot if you’re a fan of the Dutch 80s comedy, or any spin-offs, but you can still enjoy this game by simply reading up on the movie concept (which is why we provided a summary in the intro). It’s still a somewhat strange choice for a theme perhaps, but it makes sense if aimed mostly for the Dutch market.
You get random wilds from the grandpa in the base game, and single spin payouts up to 1,250x can be landed. Other than that, it’s all about the bonus round, which to a large degree is determined by which extras you get. Super wilds and multipliers are probably the best tools to crack the decent 6,500x potential, but more base game antics would have been appreciated. Fans will probably enjoy this anyway, but it’s still a fringe release overall.
