Well, it apparently had to happen. Another layer has been added to the mix of leprechauns and fishing. This game is basically an Xmas version of the original, but with a beefed up math model. Not as beefed up as the Bigger version though, but enough to make a splash in the fishing slot genre.
The 5x3 grid is placed below the surface, and fish swim around in the Xmas decorated subsea environment. The leprechaun wears a Santa hat, of course, and he can reel in cash fish and jackpot prizes up to 5,000x your stake in all stages of the game. He is himself collected in the bonus round, and this is how you increase the cash fish multiplier and get extra spins. The max win is 15,000x your stake, which is higher than the original, but lower than the Bigger version.

Mixing the fishing slot genre together with the Irish Luck genre was strange enough already, and adding Santa and Xmas to the mix just makes the whole thing bizarre. This game is a decent enough installment, but underwater Christmas presents and lights look strange to say the least. The celtic soundtrack only adds to the weirdness of this game, but at least it sticks out from the herd.
We like that you can collect cash fish prizes also in the base game, and that fish symbols pay as regular pay symbols as well. We also like that the grid expands in the bonus round, and that you can reel in jackpots up to 5,000x your stake in all stages of the game. Also taking into account the solid 15,000x potential, this game is technically a superior release to Christmas Big Bass Bonanza. However, the strangeness of the theme might be a turn off for some.
