The original fishing game has been followed by other popular titles, as well as a deluxe version. Wizard Gaming has decided that a Deluxe version of their original is also a good idea, and we have no doubt about which of the two installments we prefer.
You get both more features and a more robust math model in Fisherman’s Bounty Deluxe, and you can now reel in Oyster cash symbols also in the base game. Sometimes this will even trigger a Jackpot pick ‘em game, where prizes up to 1,000x can be landed, and you get indefinite retriggers in the bonus round. Overall, a decent enough copycat, but the competition in the fishing slot genre is rather stiff.
Fisherman’s Bounty Deluxe Slot Features
The premium symbols, consisting of lifebuoys and 3 different fish, pay between 2.5 and 11.25 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Fisherman Wild pays 15x your stake for the same. The wild also substitutes for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations, but it does not serve as the Collect symbol in this game.
The Oyster Collect feature may trigger also in the base game in this Deluxe version, and you will land Oyster cash symbols on a regular basis on reels 1 to 4. If you also land a tackle box Collect symbol on reel 5, all present Oyster cash symbols are collected and you win the summed up value. Each Oyster comes with a random cash value between 1x and 50x (as far as we can tell, as it’s not specified in the paytable).
Each time you trigger the Oyster Collect feature, there is a chance you may trigger the Jackpot feature after the initial Oyster payout has been summed up. You will then pick from 15 oysters on a new screen, and matching up 3 of the same jackpot symbol awards the corresponding prize (as seen above the reels). The Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpots pay 50x, 100x, 200x or 1,000x your stake, respectively.
You trigger the Bonus Round with 8 free spins when you land 3 fishing boat scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4, and you can retrigger the bonus round indefinitely by landing 3 scatters on the same free spin. The Oyster Collect feature can trigger also during the free spins round, and it plays out exactly like the base game except for the underwater setting.

Review Summary
There is no doubt that this follow-up release is superior to the original, so the Deluxe addition to the title is not without merit. The classic reel ‘em Collect feature can now be triggered also in the base game, but the downside is that all the Oyster Cash symbols block regular pay symbol wins. These can go no higher than 281.25x your stake though (or 375x for a full screen of wilds), and 1-2 teaser scatters also land quite often to further block regular wins.
The above scenario is the case in many installments though, but it would still be nice to see the dilemma resolved. The overall potential varies a bit with the customizable RTP settings, and the top-tier 1,216x potential is around 3x higher than what’s on offer in the original. Including a jackpot game that’s randomly triggered from the Collect feature is clever enough, but we wouldn’t have minded if the Grand Jackpot was, say, 5x more attractive.
