Fire Joker Freeze Review
The original was a pretty big hit, but for whatever reason they decided to change the classic setup in the follow-up release. With Fire Joker Freeze it’s back to the basics however, as the game plays out on a 3x3 layout with 5 paylines.
The features are mostly similar though, but with the expanding wild respins thrown into the mix. The big highlight is still the multiplier boost you get whenever you land a full screen of matching symbols, but here the bonus wheel comes with 4 levels. The max win has been upped a little bit since the 2016 release, but it could have easily been improved a lot more in our view.
Fire Joker Freeze Features
You get 2 wild symbols in this game, the Fire Joker Wild and the Ice Joker Wild. Both step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combinations. However, the wilds are also there to help you trigger different respins features.
Whenever you land the Ice Joker Wild on a non-winning spin, you trigger the Respin of Ice feature. The ice joker will expand to cover the full reel where it lands, and the remaining reels respin. This essentially gives you another chance at filling the screen to trigger the multiplier wheel.
Symbols will sometimes land in stacks on the reels. Whenever you land 2 matching stacks of symbols without creating a win, you trigger the Respin of Fire feature. The stacked reels become frozen in place, and the final reel respin. This also serves to help you fill the screen with matching symbols, and thus trigger the all-important multiplier wheel.
Landing a screen full of matching symbols triggers the Wheel of Fire and Ice feature. The above respins features can be helpful in achieving this, as also a screen full of wilds trigger the feature. You will then spin a 4-tier bonus wheel filled with snowflakes and multipliers.
Landing on a snowflake means you upgrade to the next tier, while landing on a multiplier will boost your original win accordingly. Here’s an overview of how it works:
- Tier 1 - comes with multiplier values of 2x, 3x or 4x.
- Tier 2 - comes with multiplier values of 3x, 4x or 5x.
- Tier 3 - comes with multiplier values of 4x, 5x or 6x.

Review Summary
Fire Joker Freeze is more akin to the original hit game, than the follow-up title. Perhaps a wise choice, since the video slot follow-up never achieved the same popularity as the classic 3-reeler. It’s all about filling the screen with matching symbols to trigger the multiplier wheel, which has been beefed up with 2x the potency since the first game.
You can now get up to 20x boost from the wheel, but the max win is still only 1,000x your stake. Not super impressive in other words, even for a medium volatile game. Fans of the original will probably enjoy this release though, as it’s nicely balanced out between the 2 polar opposite joker characters, and their respective features.
