There are plenty of ways to do volcano-themed slots, and they have taken a sort of ‘golden middle way’ approach in Erupting Wilds. The reels are not formed like a volcano or anything like that, but the lava-filled mountain top is boiling right below the 5x3 grid. It will spit up both random wilds and expanded 1x5 wild stacks during base game play, and not least during the bonus round.
Every spin comes with highlighted lava reels, and wilds caught in the “crossfire” become sticky for a respin. The cartoonish visual style makes a decent impression, but despite being a rather feature rich affair, this game never really got under our skin. The overall 95.15 % RTP didn’t impress either, and it felt kind of meaningless to pay to gamble for 4 “Blast spins” when the feature is amputated compared to the real deal.
Erupting Wilds Slot Features
The totem wild can land on the 3 middle reels only, and it steps in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. The wild does not hold any value of its own, and the Volcano beneath the reels can erupt to award random wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4 at any given time. The volcano might also deliver expanded wilds on the 3 middle reels, and these stacks can be up to 5 positions in height.
Every spin comes with 1, 2 or 3 highlighted “Lava Reels”. Land a wild anywhere on a Lava Reel, and it becomes sticky for a respin. Another reel will then be highlighted as a Lava Reel for the respin, and the process goes on as long as you keep landing wilds in Lava Reels.
You trigger the Bonus Round with 6, 10 or 16 free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. You win 2, 6, 10 or 16 extra spins when you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters during the feature, and the bonus round plays out on a fully expanded 5x5 grid. At least 1 of the 3 middle reels will have a “Wild Eruption” per free spin, and this covers the affected reel(s) with up to 5 wilds starting from the bottom.
Finally, you have the Blast feature, which is a way to gamble for free spins. The feature comes with 3 different difficulty tiers, namely Super, Mega and Ultra. You spin a needle on a wheel with 2 segments, and you need to land in the colored segment to win. If you lose in the pre-game needle spin, there is a 50 % chance the winning segment will increase in size.
Winning awards 4 free spins with sticky wilds and the J symbol, the J and Q symbol or the J, Q and K symbol removed, respectively. It plays out on a 5x5 grid, but you cannot trigger Volcano Wilds or Lava Wild Respins during the feature. You cannot trigger the regular bonus round either, and the RTP for Super Spins are 95.28 %, while Mega and Ultra come with theoretical returns of 94.82 % and 94.75 %, respectively.

They has yet to release anything that resembles a hit game, and we seriously doubt Erupting Wilds is gonna be their big break. The pace is kind of awkward, although nothing too bad, and the game itself is just an uninspiring snoozefest. Why have a turbo spin option when it hardly makes a difference, but we digress. The biggest problem is that the features fail to engage.
It’s not even the mediocre 3,000x potential, which is okay for a medium volatile release, something is just off with the whole thing without us being able to point our fingers directly at it. You just know when you play that this is a game you’ll never return to again, and we would rather gamble for the real bonus round, instead of some half-baked side-feature bolted on for good measure.
