El Vigilante Review
We had almost forgotten about our masked childhood hero, Zorro, when El Vigilante dumped down on our desk. The characteristic ‘Z’ logo has been replaced by a ‘V’, which reminds us of another rebellious hero, namely V for Vendetta. Anyway, the attempt at creating something truly epic falls flat once you start spinning.
The masked hero is seen only on the full moon-silhouetted K-Cash symbols, and the K-Cash Spins feature is not anything out of the ordinary. The randomized cashpot feature is the big highlight, if it triggers at all, and the regular bonus round comes with zero extras or modifiers. Overall, this is a decent enough release, and the advertised 10,136x potential seems somewhat unrealistic.
El Vigilante Slot Features
The soldier flashing his 2 swords is the Wild Symbol in this game, and he steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you complete winning combinations. The wild is also the most valuable symbol, awarding 125x your stake for 5 on a payline. The 4 character premium symbols pay between 10 and 50 x your stake in comparison.
You need to land at least 6 K-Cash symbols (big gold coins) on the same spin to trigger the K-Cash Spins feature. This is a hold-and-win style game where you start with 3 spins, and the triggering K-Cash symbols become sticky on a cleared grid. Any new K-Cash symbols that land resets the spin tally to 3 again, and some of the blank positions come with multiplier overlay circles of x2, x3 or x5.
These multiplier positions apply their multiplier to any cash symbol that lands in that position, and the 10x Mini Bonus is awarded if you manage to fill all multiplier positions. The 20x Major Bonus is awarded if you fill all reel positions with K-Cash symbols, and all your winnings are summed up if you either run out of spins, or fill the grid with symbols.
In addition, you have a random Cashpot feature that triggers each time you land a Cashpot coin during the K-Cash bonus feature. A marker will then move across 4 different cashpots, and you win the cashpot the marker stops on. The prizes are as follows:
- Bronze cashpot pays 20x your stake.
- Silver cashpot pays 100x your stake.
- Gold cashpot pays 500x your stake.
- Platinum cashpot pays 2,000x your stake.
The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3+ Bonus symbols (El Vigilante silhouetted by the full moon) anywhere in view. This gives you 8 free spins, and you also win 2, 5 or 10 x your stake for 3, 4 or 5 bonus scatters, respectively. The feature plays out just like the base game, and 3+ bonus scatters retrigger the bonus round with +8 extra spins.
Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of the HyperBonus feature. This allows you to purchase not only the K-Cash Spins directly, but also 3 different tiers of the bonus round. Here’s what’s on the menu:
- K-Cash Spins costs 32.70x your stake (with RTP of 96.58 %).
- 8 Free Spins costs 68.25x your stake (with RTP of 96.59 %).
- 12 Free Spins costs 102.25x your stake (with RTP of 96.71 %).
- 15 Free Spins costs 127.75x your stake (with RTP of 96.75 %).
The 200 Spins El Vigilante Slot Experience
You get to see some base game grinding, before we purchase the K-Cash Spins feature around the 1-minute mark. We buy the 15 free spins bonus round right after that, and we trigger the K-Cash Spins several times from within the feature. See for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The game has clearly allowed themselves to be inspired by the all but forgotten masked hero, Zorro (which is Spanish for ‘fox’ by the way), when they created El Vigilante. It’s gonna take more than this effort to revive the black-caped rider to former glory however, and it would have been fun to see a bit more of the hero than simply a mysterious silhouette against the giant full moon.
The streak respins style K-Cash Spins feature is pretty similar to what we see a lot of every month, with the exception of the randomized cashpot feature. This adds a bit of tension, as you never know if the marker will land on the 2,000x cashpot. The bonus round comes with no modifiers or extras, which is disappointing, and the 10,136x potential seems far-fetched when 1,000x is the most you can hope for from a single spin.
