The Moai statue buddies have gone on holiday to Venice Beach, and they certainly look like proper tourists with their colorful singlets, caps and sunglasses. The visual presentation in this sequel is well done, and the 2 goofy stone statues are more alive than ever before. Too much so for some players perhaps, but it’s hard not to smile at their antics at first.
The core concept of Symbol Swap Respins hasn’t changed, but the math model has been beefed up a bit. This means a higher max win, but nothing too drastic either, and also the max bet has been increased. Easter Island 2 caters to casual players who enjoy a bit of slapstick and animated antics, and not so much to serious gamblers. An extra reel has been added too, which makes it a bit strange that the number of win ways have been reduced to 25.
Easter Island 2 Features
The Symbol Swap Respin feature is still at the heart of things in this sequel, but some minor tweaks have been made to the extras. For example, the wild symbol will only appear during the Respin feature, so the expanding wilds feature from the first game is long gone. You trigger the Symbol Swap Respin on every winning combo, and only 1 respin is given whether you win again or not.
If you win with high value symbols, the winning symbol replaces all other high value symbols on the respin. Low value winning symbols replace all symbols of low value in the same manner. If you win with more than 3 symbols, you will get Colossal Symbol Blocks on the respin. These colossal symbols land as 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 blocks when you win with 4, 5 or 6 of a kind, respectively.
You can also land colossal wilds, if a seagull is inadvertently pulled into the action (it makes sense when you see it). When you land 6 of a kind wins, you will also expand the reel set with 4 extra rows, from 6x4 to 6x8, and this also increases the number of paylines from 25 to 55.

Joining the two wobbly Moai buddies on their holiday is a creative and fun concept for sure, but they come across as a bit too hyperactive at times. It’s nice to have company when you spin the reels though, and players who enjoy in-your-face attitude and slapstick comedy will probably feel right at home. However, the pudding-like wobbliness will probably induce nauseousness in some people, instead of the intended laughs.
The sequel is a bit more robust than the first game, sporting a 2,500x potential which is decent for a medium volatile title. Clearly, this game is aimed at casual players who don’t care all that much about the math model, but we do miss the expanding wilds feature from the original. The concept of better wins leading to better modifiers is entertaining, and there is no reason players who enjoyed the first game will not like the follow-up title.
