Just like some things are only "in name only", so Dungeons and Diamonds is a role-playing style game in theme only. Developers have attempted to tap into this market for a while already, but this release does not come with any RPG-style features. You get a glossy and colorful visual presentation however, with animated wizards, warriors, sorceresses and rangers, as well as a sleepy treasure-guarding dragon in the backdrop.

You can choose from 3 different spin pace settings, which is appreciated, and everything is accompanied by an epic-style soundtrack that fits the bill quite well. Instant gemstone prizes are collected via 3 different Collect symbols, and this is also how you enter into the thrilling Wicked Wizard Jackpot Game. The bonus round is simply a free round with increased gemstone prize and jackpot chances, and the overall 5,626x potential is decent.

Dungeons and Diamonds Slot Features

The 4 character premium symbols appear in size 1x2, and they pay 5 to 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The Wild symbol can land on all reels, and it steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations. The wild holds no value of its own, however.

Whenever you land gem symbols on reels 1 to 4 at the same time as a Collect symbol on reel 5, the Instant Collect feature is triggered. The gems land with cash prizes of 1x to 25x, and all present gems are collected and paid by the Collect symbol. In addition to the regular Collect symbol, you also have 2 special collect symbols:

• Multi Collect - awards a random multiplier up to x5, which boosts the total collected gemstone value.
• Respin Collect - locks all present gemstones in place for a respin, which may increase your total collected win.

You can also land jackpot symbols on reels 1 to 4, and these are collected in the same way as described above. This triggers the Wicked Wizard Jackpot bonus, and it’s all about matching up 3 gem pouches to win the corresponding jackpot. You’re thus guaranteed 1 of the 4 fixed jackpots, and the Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpot pays 50x, 100x, 500x or 5,000x your stake, respectively. Jackpots cannot be multiplied by the Multi Collect symbol.

Finally, the Dungeons and Diamonds Bonus Round triggers when you land 3 dragon eye scatters anywhere in view, and this gives you 8 free spins. Before the free spins play out however, extra gemstones, jackpot and collect symbols will be added to the reel strips. You can retrigger the feature by landing 3 scatters on a free spin.

Review Summary

Developers are clearly attempting to appeal to fans of the legendary tabletop game, Dungeons & Dragons, and you get pretty decent character symbol animations combined with a sleepy, yet animated, dragon in the backdrop. While some developers have incorporated RPG gameplay elements into their slots in various degrees, you get nothing like that in Dungeons and Diamonds. It’s pretty straightforward featurewise, but you get some decent modifier Collect symbols.

Most of the time there isn’t all that many gems to collect however, but the Multi Collector is probably your best bet for larger payouts. Of course, it doesn’t affect any jackpots collected, which is a bit sad, as it could’ve at least boosted the lower-tier jackpots. The bonus round gives you a higher likelihood of collecting gems and jackpots, and the overall 5,626x potential is decent. RPG/Fantasy fans may enjoy this for a while, but overall it’s a pretty mediocre effort.
