There are plenty of options in the heist slot genre, and Diamond Heist Hold & Win is not gonna revolutionize anything. Still, it’s a pretty entertaining and feature rich effort, sporting 3 random modifiers in the base game. The cartoon-style visuals and animations are nicely done, and we also like the very fitting soundtrack.
The diamond bonus/cash symbols don’t block your regular wins in the base game. They only come into play in the free Heist Spins feature, which many times will lead to the Hold & Win Respins. It plays out in a safe deposit box vault, and you can win 3 jackpots and unlock 3 rows. In addition, you have a bonus round with progressive multiplier to look forward to, and we had a pretty good time testing this game.
Diamond Heist Hold & Win Features
The wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols to complete winning combos, and it holds no value of its own. The premiums pay between 3 and 25 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the base game comes with 3 random modifiers as follows:
- Wilds added - awards 3 to 6 wilds randomly spread across the reels.
- Mystery - lands 5 to 10 mystery symbols, and these turn into a random matching symbol.
- Multiplier Win - boosts the next win with a random win multiplier of x2, x5 or x10.
The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters anywhere in view, and this gives you 8, 10 or 12 free spins, respectively. A win multiplier increases by +1 per free spin, and landing 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters during the feature awards 3, 5, 10 or 12 extra spins, respectively.
You trigger the Heist Mode when you land 3 detonator (red button) symbols anywhere in view. You then get 20 free Heist Spins, and the aim is to land at least 5 diamond symbols to trigger the Diamond Heist Respins feature.
The triggering Diamond symbols become sticky on the safe deposit box grid, and you get 3 respins. All new diamond symbols that land become frozen in place too, and this resets the respins tally to 3 again. You can also land Mini, Major and Mega jackpot symbols worth 100, 250 and 500 x your stake, respectively.
Special Green Key symbols unlock extra rows. There are 3 extra rows that can be unlocked this way, and the Green Keys reset the respins tally as well. Landing 3 sticky alarm symbols ends the feature, and the feature also ends if you run out of respins or fill the grid with cash/jackpot symbols. We were immediately reminded of a similar game when we first tried this game, but Diamond Heist Hold & Win is not quite as extraordinary. We like how the triggering diamond symbols are reserved for the Heist Spins feature, as cash symbols usually occupy prime ‘reel estate’ in most similar installments. The fact that the Heist Spins are free is not exactly wrong either, and most of the time they lead to the Hold & Win Respins feature.
The top-tier 500x jackpot is not exactly massive, but it helps that you can land more than one instance of it. The bonus round can lead to decent payouts as well, due to the multiplier that keeps increasing per spin. The 4,684x potential is okay for a medium/high volatility installment like this, and overall this is a somewhat entertaining effort that sticks out from the run-of-the-mill releases we see all the time.
