The gemstone theme is familiar, but Diamond Cascade stands out because you need to pay attention to the background colors as well as the actual symbols. The developer has come up with something they call Color Tumbles, and basically clusters of 5+ symbols are removed when they have the same background color as winning symbols. This triggers tumble sequences where removed symbols are collected to build the win multiplier.

It’s basically an original twist to the regular tumble wins feature you see all the time, and the benefit is that plenty of symbols can be collected even from smaller wins. Still, building a solid win multiplier can be hard enough in the base game, but it helps when it never resets for as long as the bonus round lasts. This can lead to payouts up to 8,000x your stake, which is above average, and we had a pretty good time testing Diamond Cascade at least.

The symbols pay between 0.6 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the red golden Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins. The wild can land on the 3 middle reels only, and it holds no value of its own in this game.

The cascading mechanic is unusual in this game, as symbols with the same background color as winning symbols are removed. This only happens if these symbols land in a cluster of at least 5 symbols though, and existing symbols will then drop down as a new batch of symbols fills the remaining positions on the grid. This is known as the Color Tumbling feature, and it goes on as long as there are eligible clusters to be removed.

The symbols removed by the Color Tumble feature are also collected in the crystal meter seen on the right-hand side. The win multiplier increases by +1 per 20 symbols you collect this way, and the multiplier resets between base game spins.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3+ scatters in the same tumbling sequence, or on the very same spin, and this gives you 15 free spins. The win multiplier that builds from collecting Color Tumble symbols never resets for as long as the bonus round lasts, and you win 5, 10, or 15 extra spins from 3, 4, or 5 scatters in view, respectively. The Bonus Buy feature allows eligible players to purchase a triggering spin for 100x the stake, but this option may not be available in some regions.

The diamond and gem symbols may not be the height of innovation, but the way the symbols drop down is still satisfying to behold. The developer has instead poured their creativity into coming up with a brand new tumble mechanic feature, as the Color Tumble system is not something we can remember seeing before at least. It can be a bit confusing at first, but it will start to make more sense after you’ve played for a while.

It boils down to collecting as many color tumble symbols as possible, as this builds the win multiplier for the tumble winning streak. The collection system adds unpredictability to the gameplay, which keeps the tension going, and even more so when the multiplier only keeps building in the bonus round. You can win up to 8,000x your stake, which is above average, and we’re pretty sure there will be more installments utilizing this innovative system down the line.
