Deadmau5 is a branded slot produced by a studio. It’s based around the world-famous Canadian electronic music creator and DJ by the same name. It plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 winning ways, and features several of his hit songs. You will also benefit from cascading wins, random wild reels and a progressive multiplier bonus round for payouts up to 2,100x your stake.

You can place bets between 20p and £120 per spin across all platforms and devices, which is quite a decent bet range. The hit rate of 31.52 % is quite high too, so you can expect to land a winner of some kind almost on every third spin. However, the symbol values are not all that impressive in this game, except for the scatter that pays quite well. The dancing lady premiums pay between 3x to 5x for 5 on a payline, and the base game potential is therefore somewhat limited.

Deadmau5 is pronounced “dead mouse” in case you wondered, and the mickey mouse like logo is the wild symbol here. It’s clear that the slot relies heavily on the brand to carry this game, as the features offer no innovation or novelty. Still, they are effectively put together to create a somewhat well-balanced game. Fans of the DJ and his music will probably enjoy this title, but we don’t really think the game is solid enough to significantly expand his fan base.

Deadmau5 Features

We’ll start with the Rolling Reels feature, which pervades all aspects of this game. Winning symbols will be removed from the reels, and this makes room for new winning combos to drop from above in the same round. This continues as long as you keep landing winners, and it’s sometimes called cascading wins.

You also have a randomly triggered Drop the Wild feature in Deadmau5 slot. A giant game logo will then appear in front of the 3 middle reels, and this will turn reels 2, 3 and/or 4 into wild reels. Obviously, turning all 3 middle reels wild at the same time can be quite lucrative, and you’re guaranteed a win when this feature triggers.

The crazed mouse symbol is the scatter here, and it can land you scatter wins of 5x, 50x or 250x your stake, respectively, when you land 3, 4 or 5 anywhere on the same spin. This, of course, is also how you trigger the free spins bonus round, and 3, 4 or 5 scatters gives you 15, 20 or 25 spins after the initial scatter payout.

Above the reels you’ll now see a Multiplier Trail of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 10x. The progressive multiplier increases along this trail for every rolling reels consecutive win. The multiplier will reset once the rolling reels feature ends. The feature ends when you run out of free spins, and there is no retriggering possible here.

We had admittedly never heard about this Canadian DJ and electronic music producer before we tried this game. At least it has a theme that stands out, and we’re always open to new experiences, be that in music or in slots. Review Summary

If you’re not a fan of electronica, and of DJ Deadmau5 in particular, there is not all that much rationale as to why you should play this game. It comes with a couple of his hit songs, and a somewhat cheesy dance club theme. The features are nothing new either, but they do balance out the game in a pretty decent way.

For example, we had bigger wins from the Drop the Wild feature in the base game than we had from the multiplier trail bonus round. However, the only novelty in this branded effort is the world famous DJ it’s based around. The volatility is a bit high for the 2,100x max win potential, but not enough to scare off any fans. That being said, regular punters with no relationship to Deadmau5 will probably be better served elsewhere.
