The problem with superhero games of the unbranded kind is that you don’t really have a pre-established relationship with the characters. A strong intro video can help with that to a certain degree, and so can crafting characters that are recognizably based on known superheroes. You get a bit of that in Crimson Moon. However, since this is a copycat effort, the release will be hard fought to escape living in the shadow of the already-established success.
The visuals are okay, don’t get us wrong, but it was hard to really get immersed in the superhero world presented in Crimson Moon. There are so many superhero movies these days that our appetite is not what it used to be as well, but the 12,650x potential is solid enough. The Link&Win feature is standard stuff by now, and we have seen 3x3-sized mega symbols in plenty of bonus rounds before as well. Overall, Crimson Moon is a decent game that will most likely fall flat in its attempt at soaring past the original.
