Our Verdict
Despite being a relatively new game provider, an impressive amount of slot games has been released. The majority of them are focused on the Hold & Win Bonus, and it’s clear that this provider is attempting to carve out a niche for itself. The problem is that you can’t really do that when you’re so blatantly inspired by another successful provider. It’s impossible for an experienced gamer to not compare this game with different similar slots. The visual style is similar, with the gold coins and the mystery spheres, and the whole concept of not being able to win anything in the base game is shamelessly borrowed. What has failed to implement, however, is the customizable volatility feature. With no base game winnings, you are at the mercy of the fixed high volatility math model, and the bonus round hit rate is not disclosed. This would be a useful stat to know for sure, but in my experience, the feature triggers fairly often.
The sticky bonus symbol will help trigger the feature, but other than that, the base game has little to offer. The fun starts when the bonus game finally triggers. Needing to unlock rows to be able to fill the grid and win the Grand Jackpot can be frustrating at times, and may not be the best solution for a game like this. However, it does add an element of progress that some players may enjoy.
What I do like about Coin Lamp slot are the random bonus game upgrades and the multiplier positions. These multipliers are guaranteed in both the super and power bonus rounds, and they often climb to decent levels. Still, the game’s 2,000x win cap is hardly an eyebrow-raiser in today’s competitive market. Despite okay visual effects, all in all, Coin Lamp’s glow fails to dazzle. We would prefer a focus on their own creative vision rather than imitating successful recipes.
