Game Review

We had to search for the word “corsairs”, as we admittedly didn’t know it’s another word for pirate. The developer might have chosen this somewhat unusual word because it contains “air”, as the pirates you meet are not your ordinary seafaring kind. Instead, you’re taken onboard a zeppelin that’s floating through the clouds, towards a mysterious levitating island city of some kind in the distance.

The weather can change in an instant when the Lightning Mystery feature triggers, and the reels are filled with intriguing characters. This includes a cigar-smoking eye-patched pirate, a jolly green parrot, a wizard of some kind and a steampunk lady. You get plenty of zeppelin symbol streak respins in the base game, with an accumulating multiplier to boot, and the bonus round comes with a possible super mode climax for up to 7,690x payouts.

Game Features

The 4 character premium symbols pay between 6 and 8 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and symbols pay from the uttermost left to the right in the base game. You get a pay-both-ways system in the bonus round though. The Multiplier Reel seen on the right-hand side comes with values between x1 and x10, and the multiplier in the highlighted center position will apply to any win on the same spin.

Any win with the top-tier Zeppelin symbol triggers the Zeppelin Respins feature. All Zeppelin symbols become sticky, and the respins go on as long as you land new Zeppelin symbols. The multiplier is collected and accumulated per respin (up to x50, at best), and it will boost the total Zeppelin payout.

You can trigger the Lightning Mystery feature at any given time in the base game, and this places a random pattern consisting of 6 symbols of the same type onto the grid. The symbols can be any pay symbol except the top-tier zeppelin, and the remaining reels also land pay symbols (not zeppelin or bonus scatters).

The Bonus Round triggers with 12 free spins when you land 3 bonus scatters anywhere in view, and as mentioned in the intro, you win both ways during the feature. Bonus scatters that land during the feature are collected in a meter on the left-hand side, and collecting 4 scatters awards +4 extra spins.

This also activates an extra highlighted multiplier reel position above the center position. Collecting 9 scatters in total awards +4 extra spins again, and adds another multiplier reel position below the center position. You’ll then benefit from 3 combined multipliers that boost wins, and/or is accumulated per respin in the Zeppelin Respins feature.

If you manage to fill the scatter collect meter by collecting 15 scatters, you activate Super Free Spins Mode. The Super Mode feature starts when the regular bonus round ends, and you get 3 sticky zeppelin symbols initially. You then get 5 super spins where only new zeppelin symbols or blank positions will land, and the multiplier keeps accumulating per spin. It maxes out at x50 though, and it will boost the total 5-spin zeppelin win.

Finally, non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, may take advantage of the Bonus Buy option. This will set you back 100x your stake, but the RTP increases to a very decent 97.12 % if you purchase the free spins round. The bonus round triggers organically 1 in 342 spins on average.

Review Summary

We were quite impressed by the visual presentation , and one notable example is how you’re tunneling through a thunderstorm when the Lightning Mystery feature triggers. The characters are varied and nicely done too, and the sense of floating through the clouds towards the mystery sky island is enjoyable. The developer's strong suit is fantasy themes, and it really shows in this release.

The multiplier reel compensates for the mediocre symbol values, and not least when the Zeppelin Respins feature triggers. It was almost hard to land regular wins in comparison, so expect the repins quite often. The bonus round builds up to the possibility of a super mode climax, and the 7,690x potential is more than solid enough. This game is an above average release for sure, and well worth checking out if you enjoy the zeppelin pirates theme.
