This game takes you on a bright and colorful journey to ‘Sin City’, and you’ll see the Vegas version of famous landmarks on either side of the 5x5 grid. The characters on the reels are mostly a shady-looking bunch however, and the Connected Ways system means that paylines tolerate a 1-row margin up or down for matching symbols. It’s somewhat similar to the Cluster Pays engine in practice, but you need to form winning combos from left to right starting with the first reel.
For whatever reason, the developer has decided to go full barebones on the base game, and literally nothing happens except the occasional small to medium payouts. The jazzy soundtrack might keep morale up long enough to trigger either of the bonus rounds however, and non-UK players can always purchase the features instead of waiting. There is a hint of another game in the Chip Spin feature, due to the special symbols, but we would have preferred more action also in the base game.
Chip Spin Slot Features
The Free Spins feature is triggered when you land at least 3 scatters anywhere in sight. You get 8 free spins when you land the minimum of 3 scatters, while +2 extra spins are awarded on top of that per extra triggering scatter you land. The bonus round comes with 3 casino chip special symbols as follows:

The Chip Spin Bonus Game is triggered by landing 5+ casino chips anywhere on a base game spin. You start with only 1 life, and the triggering casino chips flip to reveal a feature or a cash value. All chips you land become sticky as well, and only chips or blanks will land. Lives are lost when you land blanks only, and chips with a small heart icon attached increase your life tally with +1.
The achieved life tally is reset every time you land at least 1 chip in sight, and the feature ends when your life tally goes to zero. The Chip Spin feature comes with special symbols as follows:

Both the Collector and the Sniper chip land with a random number of mini chip icons, and these indicate how many times their respective modifiers will be used. If you fill a whole column with chips, all the green chips are consolidated into a single cash chip. This frees up space for more chips to land.
Non-UK players can purchase both bonus rounds directly in-game, and the free spins feature will set you back 90x your stake. The Chip Spin feature costs only 70x your stake however, and it guarantees at least 5 chip symbols on the following spin. The Bonus Buy option increases the RTP from 96.41 % to 96.74 %.

Review Summary
Paying homage to the casino mecca, Las Vegas, has been done in many slots already, but the developer does a fine job at it in Chip Spin. Completely stripping the base game of features, even down to the lack of wilds, might not be the most balanced decision however. Those lucky enough to be able to purchase the bonus rounds are at an advantage in that regard, as grinding along to trigger either can take a while.
The free spins round comes with the classic, yet potentially deadly, combo of sticky wilds and increasing multiplier, and the capped 25,000x potential is solid enough to get most players' attention. For how long is another question, as the Chip Spin round can be brutal when everything hangs in the ultra-thin thread of a single life. When things go your way, however, it plays like a less intense version of another game, albeit with half the potential.
