Admittedly, some studios haven’t been among the most exciting over the years. The quality of slots is definitely not uniform, but Buffaloes Duel did catch our attention with its main Mirrored Reels premise. The theme of Buffaloes Duel takes us to the classic American wilderness with all that entails. The visuals come with a certain style that’s hard to explain, as it mixes a lot of vibrant colors together in a way that doesn’t always work out well. Still, we appreciate the risk the designers were willing to take, and we believe that the graphics will find some fans.

The pay symbols of Buffaloes Duel are split into 5 low-paying symbols and 4 high-paying symbols. The former are rather basic, as they feature just card ranks from Tens to Aces, and their designs are really nothing to write home about. Even the payouts are on the lower side of things, as Aces and Kings pay only 0.6x your bet for a full combination. Things do get better with the high-paying symbols, though, as they feature rabbits, pumas, deer, and wolves. Wolves are worth the most, paying 4x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination.

For special symbols, there are Buffalo Wilds and Eagle Scatters. Buffalo Wilds substitute for other symbols, as you’d expect, but they also participate in one of the slot’s gameplay features. Eagle Scatters, meanwhile, are there to trigger the Free Spins feature.

Gameplay-wise, we simply have to start by explaining the Mirrored Reels feature. Basically, the two upper rows are always mirrored by the two lower rows, which means that you’ll get two identical sets of symbols. The top symbol of a reel is always the same as the bottom symbol of that reel, while the two middle positions match as well.

This goes together with the Clash feature that takes Buffalo Wilds into account. If you get Buffalo Wilds on the middle positions of a reel, you’ll get a Clash, which will provide you with a win multiplier for the given spin. Even one clash is worth a 2x win multiplier, while a set of five clashes (the maximum) will give you a sweet 10x win multiplier instead.

Land 6, 8, or 10 Eagle Scatters to trigger the Free Spins feature with 10, 15, or 25 free spins, respectively. Free spins are played with slightly different reels, but there are no evident gameplay effects of this. Retriggers are possible, too.
