Some studios rarely impress with blockbuster releases but can produce solid slots of all kinds. With Book of Charms, they came up with a fine addition to the growing supply of “Book of” slots. The playing field is classic here, featuring 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines.

The big draw of the slot, then, is its fresh theme that has its background split right in the middle. On the right side, there’s an enchantress of sorts, while the left side features an adventurer in front of a pyramid. Both characters are animated, too, which adds a fair bit to the game’s atmosphere. Overall, the production values are high, and we are glad that someone was able to come up with something a bit new for the “Book of” niche. Seeing another one of those slots set in Ancient Egypt would feel like a chore.

The volatility of Book of Charms is high, but, to compensate for that, you can look forward to a massive 20,000x jackpot. The betting range then works only for low rollers, as it goes only from £0.10 to £5. That will disappoint all the high rollers out there, but let’s be fair – they aren’t the main audience for this particular slot. As for the game’s theoretical RTP, it can be different. It’s always 90.32%, 94.33%, or 96.38%, however.

The symbols of Book of Charms all look pretty nice, though they are a bit short in terms of creativity. The low-paying symbols, for one, are only about card ranks from Nines to Aces, though you will get a solid 12.5x payout if you find a set of 5 Aces on a payline. That’s the general trend here, and symbol payouts are high on average. For high-paying symbols, there are four-leaf clovers, coins, horseshoes, amulets, and ladybugs. Ladybugs and amulets are worth the most, and pay 75x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination.

Given that this is a “Book of” slot, we expected just one special symbol. There are three in total, though - Lady Wilds, Book Scatters, and Pink Orb Scatters. Lady Wilds are the most straightforward of them all, as they can substitute for other pay symbols to complete winning combinations. That’s not all, however, as they also double all wins in which they feature.

Now – since there are two types of Scatters, it’s only logical that there are also two Free Spins features. If you land 3+ Pink Orb Scatters anywhere on the board, you’ll trigger the Pink Orb Free Spins feature. It offers 15 free spins and an automatic 3x win multiplier that’s applied to all wins. Retriggers are possible, and, if you trigger the Book Free Spins feature from this feature, the 3x win multiplier will actually carry over!

To trigger the aforementioned Book Free Spins feature, you have to find 3 or more Book Scatters anywhere in view. That’s not something that you see all that often, so we are happy to congratulate for their efforts. Book of Charms really is one of the few “Book of” slots that we can recommend even to players that aren’t massive fans of the niche itself!
