The original Black Gold Megaways was the first effort with the licenced engine, and everything is bigger and bolder in this follow-up release. Black Gold 2 Megaways comes with impressive oil rig visuals, but the game pace has a bit too many unnecessary hiccups and delays. Minor detail perhaps, but it can get annoying after a while.
That being said, this is a pretty solid release that is well worth checking out, not least if you’re after a feature heavy affair with plenty of action in all stages of the game. Having so many different modifiers keeps the base game interesting, and even more so when a progressive win multiplier is thrown into the mix in the bonus round. The Gold Rush streak respins feature is a brand new addition, and you’ll be entertained for a good while with this one for sure.
Black Gold 2 Megaways Features
You should probably decide up front whether or not you want to play with the Super Stake switched on. It doubles your cost per spin, and for this you get more frequent modifiers from the top bonus reel (above the horizontal sliding reel). For the record, this does not affect the game’s RTP.
Winning combos always trigger the Cascading Wins feature, where the winning symbols are removed to be replaced by new/existing symbols dropping down to fill the gaps. You have dynamite wilds to help you out in that regard, and these step in for all regular pay symbols to complete winning combos. The Cascade feature repeats as long as you keep winning.
Modifier symbols slide in on the top bonus reel at random times, and valves below the reels open up so geysers of oil are squirted all over the reels. When the reels become visible again, the modifier effect kicks in. The following 7 modifiers are available:
- Random - adds a random number of wilds to reels 2 to 6.
- Multiplier - adds 2 multiplier wilds to reels 2 to 5.
- Stacked - adds 1 or 2 wild stacks on reels 2 to 5.
- Destroyer - removes all symbols from the main reels to trigger a new cascade.
- Mystery - transforms at least 3 symbols into Mystery symbols, and these turn into a random matching symbol.
- Gold Rush - triggers the Gold Rush feature with 4 bonus/money symbols.
- Free Spins - triggers the Bonus Round with 4 scatters.
The Gold Rush feature triggers organically when at least 4 bag of gold bonus symbols land anywhere on the same spin. This is a streak respins style feature, and the triggering symbols become sticky cash symbols on a grid where only blanks or new cash symbols land. You get 3 respins, and each new symbol resets the respins tally to 3 again.
The feature goes on until you run out of lives, or until you fill the screen with nothing but cash symbols. The following 7 modifiers might slide in to benefit you on the top bonus reel:
- Adder - affects a random number of reels, and adds +1 to +5 to the multiplier value of all cash symbols.
- Multiplier - multiplies the cash symbol values by x2, x5 or x10 for selected reels.
- Expander - expands reels by +1 position, up to 7 at the most.
- Collector - collects all values present on the grid into its own cash symbol.
- Gold - adds a cash symbol to each reel.
- Extra Spin - gives you 4 respins “lives” instead of 3.
- Lucky Streak - gives you more frequent modifier symbols on the bonus reel.When you run out of respins, or fill the whole grid with money symbols, your total winnings are summed up as the feature ends.
You trigger the Free Spins round when you land at least 4 oil rig scatters anywhere in sight, and the Bonus Round comes with 4 options:
- 12 free spins (+3 extra spins per extra triggering scatter above 4) with a 1x starting multiplier.

The original was already a feature rich affair, and it’s hard to see how this follow-up game could cram in anything more without being over-the-top. The Super Stake is a bit of a conundrum, as 2x the regular stake seems a bit steep for just extra modifiers.
The random modifiers keep you guessing during the base game though, and they also enhance the bonus round no matter which of the 4 options you go with. The Gold Rush feature is a light version of what’s on offer in other similar games, but it’s still loaded with useful modifiers that can rack up solid payouts. Speaking of, the 21,195x potential has been significantly increased, but this game is also more brutal in the volatility department.
