Big Stack Lumberjack Review
Big Stack Lumberjack takes you on a forest adventure of the old-school kind, with the sturdy lumberjack standing ready to spring into action at any time. Towering oaks frame the 5x3 grid, while rust-colored leaves drift across the scenic backdrop of rolling hills, a river, and trees bursting with autumn hues. The guitar-strumming soundtrack complements the game's rugged, outdoor vibe, getting you ready for some axe-swinging action.
You start by choosing your bet level between €0.1 to €50 per spin, a range that should satisfy most types of players. The Beech is the top-tier tree symbol, followed by a Maple, Elm, and Spruce, and these are stacked symbols that can cover full reels. They pay 5x to 10x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and wins are generated when 2+ matching symbols land across 1 to 10 paylines starting from the leftmost reel. Lower value symbols, like bushes, stumps, and rocks, all pay 2.5x your stake for 5 of a kind.
Tree symbols that land fully in view may reveal a multiplier of up to x100 in the base game, boosting wins they partake in. What’s more, the lumberjack character will sometimes sprint towards a random fully stacked tree symbol, chopping it down to make it a horizontal symbol on the bottom row. This can help create winning combos, but there is no guarantee. That’s pretty much it for the base game, but you should know that Axe scatters also serve as Wild symbols that substitute for any pay symbol.
Also, keep your eyes on the ‘Eternal Oak’ growing at the top of the left-hand side hill, as it can trigger the Ultimate Lumberjack Bonus Round when fully grown. The regular bonus round gives you a choice of higher accumulating tree multipliers or more frequent timberfall features, while the Ultimate feature gives you both. The 96.18 % top-tier RTP is a tad above average, but beware of lower RTP versions. Big Stack Lumberjack rolls nicely off the tongue, boasting a solid max win of 20,000x your stake, balanced by its high (7 out of 10) volatility.
Big Stack Lumberjack Features
Downing timber is what it’s all about in Big Stack Lumberjack slot, but keep an eye on the Eternal Oak growing in the background. It will eventually trigger the top-tier Ultimate bonus, while you can trigger the regular bonus round organically via scatter wilds. Let’s get chopping!
Timberfall & Tree Multipliers
When a tree symbol lands fully in view, the lumberjack may run to chop it down. It will then cover positions horizontally at the bottom row, falling either to the left or right, which may generate a win. Fully stacked Tree symbols reveal multipliers between x1 and x100, boosting wins they partake in accordingly.
Eternal Oak
Look for the 'Eternal Oak' at the top of the hill on your left. It increases in size after a certain number of base game spins. Exactly 200 spins is enough to grow it fully, adding Axe symbols to the reels. This may or may not chop down the Eternal Oak to trigger the Ultimate Lumberjack Free Spins Bonus Round. If the feature triggers, the Eternal Oak resets to a random size. On average, you need to see 20 axes before the Eternal Oak is chopped and the feature triggers.
Lumberjack Free Spins Feature
The regular Lumberjack Bonus Round triggers from 3, 4, or 5 Axe scatters anywhere in view, and scatter symbols also serve as Wild symbols in this game. You get to choose between 2 different bonus round options:
- Get 7 free spins with higher multipliers (x5, x10, x15, x20, x50, and x100) but fewer Timberfall triggers.
- Get 10 free spins with x1 multipliers but more frequent Timberfall triggers.
The 4 tree symbol icons are stacked up on the left-hand side, collecting the multipliers from each tree that lands fully in view after the win calculation. The tree multipliers keep growing this way, boosting each tree symbol win for the duration of the bonus round. You win +2 to +10 extra free spins from landing 2 to 5 scatters in view.
Ultimate Lumberjack Free Spins Feature
The Ultimate Lumberjack Bonus Round can only be triggered via the Eternal Oak, offering 7 free spins with tree multipliers of x5 to x100 combined with more frequent Timberfall triggers.
Big Stack Lumberjack Bonus Buy (not UK)
Eligible players can pay 85x the stake to trigger the regular Lumberjack Bonus Round, guaranteeing 3+ scatters on the spin that follows.
Theme & Graphics
It’s hard to imagine how the theme and visuals of Big Stack Lumberjack could’ve been executed any better. You’ve got your strapping lumberjack standing on the left with his trusty axe thrown nonchalantly over his shoulder. The tree symbols slam down on the reels with a thunderous crash, potentially spurring the lumberjack into action to chop one of them down. The rustic guitar melody weaves into the crisp autumn air, with painted leaves drifting down and two massive oaks framing the grid.

Our Verdict
Big Stack Lumberjack is no exception with its rugged outdoors charm and simple, yet effective, tree chopping action. It’s a bit surprising that there are so few lumberjack-themed slots out there in the wild from before, as we count only 9 on our extensive catalog at this time. Anyway, has done a lot of things right when creating Big Stack Lumberjack. The satisfying spin pace and the way the trees slam down pulls you in from the start, and you get the nostalgic sense of being in the forest again, exploring like you did when you were a kid.
Despite the volatility scoring 7 out of 10, which is not as brutal as some other installments, Big Stack Lumberjack is no walk in the park. The base game seldom delivers anything to scream “timber!” for, and the lumberjack could perhaps have sprung into action a bit more often. It helps that each spin inches you closer to the Ultimate Lumberjack bonus, though, which is the feature that is most likely to close you in on the generous 20,000x potential. However, it’s a tad annoying each time the Eternal Oak maxes out but avoids being chopped down.
Also, keep in mind that the average win from the Ultimate bonus is “only” 152.15x your stake, so don’t expect too much from it either. The max win hit rate in the regular bonus is a solid 1 in 22,828 spins, though, compared to 1 in 5 million spins in the base game. Overall, the game’s sturdy math model offers plenty of opportunity. In my view, Big Stack Lumberjack is a highly playable and enjoyable game. However, I did kind of miss the SuperSpinner multipliers, as these could’ve made the base game a bit more forgiving.
