Big Bass - Keeping it Reel Review
The Big Bass Bonanza range from has been a success, and they’ll probably keep creating new installments. In Big Bass Bonanza: Keeping it Reel this installment is closer to the first game than some of the recent releases.
What’s new is the fish prize pot that accumulates prizes in the bonus round, and these are won when you land the golden wild fish prize collector. The multiplier upgrade trail is the same as always, and you also get a couple of randomly triggered fisherman wild collector and fish prize modifiers during the feature. The 10,000x potential is the highest we’ve seen in this series, which should make this an interesting prospect for fans.
Big Bass Bonanza: Keeping it Reel Slot Features
The premium symbols pay between 20 and 200 x your stake, and you get wilds and golden wilds in the bonus round only. As usual, the wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and we’ll get to the other functions they serve below.
You need 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the same base game spin to trigger the Bonus Round, and this gives you 10, 15 or 20 free spins, respectively. In some cases where you land only 2 scatters, a third scatter may be hooked onto the screen to trigger the feature.
You need to land the wild and/or golden wild symbol to collect the cash fish prizes, but all fish prizes present without any wilds are added to the prize net up to the left. A random fish escapes this net on each spin that follows, which subtracts the corresponding prize from the total pot.
When the golden wild collects the fish prizes, it also collects the current prize net pot. Both the wild and the golden wild are collected in the multiplier trail below the grid. Every 4 wild and/or golden wild collected awards +10 extra spins, and the fish prize multiplier increases to x2, x3 and finally x10. The feature cannot be retriggered once the x10 multiplier has been achieved.
There are a few randomly triggered features in the bonus round as well. If you land wild collect symbols with no fish prizes present, a dynamite may be lobbed onto the screen to turn pay symbols into fish prize symbols. The opposite can also happen, where you get collector wilds at random when there are fish prizes to collect.
You can choose to play with the Ante Bet turned on, and this will cost you 50 % more per spin. The benefit is extra scatters added to the reel strips, which increases your bonus round chances. Non-UK players, and anyone eligible, may purchase the bonus round for 100x the stake. Neither of the above affects the RTP, and the bonus round hit rate is 1 in 117 spins on average.
The 200 Spins Big Bass Bonanza: Keeping it Reel Slot Experience
You get to see a regular line win with fish symbols in the base game, before we trigger the bonus round close to the 1-minute mark. We got the minimum of 3 triggering scatters, and the feature plays out for the remainder of the 3-minute highlights video. Check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The Big Bass Bonanza series has taken some interesting turns, so Big Bass Bonanza: Keeping it Reel goes back to the game’s humble roots. There’s nothing too humble about the 10,000x potential however, as it beats all previous installments.
The prize pot concept is the other element that makes this release stick out, but it can be a tad frustrating to see it being drained all the time as fish keep escaping. The random elements have been done better before, and visually the game looks a bit strange. Overall, a decent installment made worthwhile because of the large potential.
