Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Review
The original Big Bass Bonanza is a very popular game in the fishing genre. The follow-up Bigger Bass Bonanza has also been a success, so this Megaways release was expected. The familiar simplicity is still present, and this version features relaxing fish animations.
In Big Bass Bonanza Megaways, the Fisherman has brought a Bazooka to the fishing expedition. These 2 new modifiers enhance the bonus round when they trigger. The 4,000x potential could have been higher, but overall this is a good addition to the fishing series.
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Features
Regular symbols pay from left to right, and the fishing gear symbols pay between 2 and 50 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins. The fish symbols pay up to 1.75x your stake when lined up on paylines in the base game, and each fish also has a cash value that’s collected by the fisherman in the bonus round.
Winning symbols are removed from the grid via the Tumble feature, and new symbols drop down to fill the gaps. This process can repeat indefinitely, as long as you keep landing new winning combinations.
The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols, and this awards 10, 15 or 20 free spins, respectively. Fish symbols drop to the bottom of the grid instead of being removed by the Tumble feature here, and the Fisherman collects all cash values from any fish present at the same time.
Fisherman symbols are collected in the meter on the right-hand side, and every 4 collected fisherman awards +10 free spins and a fisherman multiplier upgrade. The multiplier is applied to all collected fish values, and you can retrigger/upgrade 3 times. This awards up to 50 free spins in total, and the multiplier range is x2, x3 and x10.
Two special features can trigger during the bonus round only, and these may be awarded when the fisherman symbol lands without any fish present. The Dynamite feature adds fish to random positions, while the Bazooka feature explodes all present symbols except the fisherman symbol. This may land new fish symbols to be collected as the Tumble feature kicks in.
The 200 Spins Big Bass Bonanza Megaways Experience
You get to see a bit of the base game, before the bonus round is triggered.
Review Summary
This Megaways version is well done. The 4,000x potential is lower than expected.
The repetitive soundtrack can be annoying after a while. The animated intro to the Bazooka and Dynamite features are fun to watch. These two modifiers add a new element to gameplay, and the bonus round multiplier upgrade system will be familiar to fans of the previous games.
