Big Bass Bonanza Hold and Spinner Review
We don’t mind a fishing expedition once in a while, but there have been a bit too many lately to be honest. Once again you are invited to some peaceful fishing spot with the bearded fisherman, and the transparent reels are separated by bubbles rising to the surface. A frog sits there patiently on the right-hand side, and you will need a healthy dose of patience to power through the mostly uneventful base game.
The good news is that you can turn on the Ante Bet to shorten the time between bonus triggers, and an extra feature has been added to Big Bass Bonanza Hold and Spinner. The free spins round is identical to what you’ve probably seen before, with cash fish being collected as the collector wild moves you along the multiplier and extra spins upgrade trial. The brand new Hold & Spinner feature comes with a somewhat unusual twist though, and the 10,000x potential is higher than many other installments in this somewhat oversaturated series.
Big Bass Bonanza Hold and Spinner Slot Features
You can pay 50 % extra per spin to play with the Ante Bet switched on, and this increases your likelihood of landing scatters. Exactly how much this affects your bonus round chances is not revealed, but it also increases your Hold & Spinner chances. The premium symbols pay between 20 and 200 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and wilds appear in the bonus round only, as usual.
You win 10, 15, or 20 free spins from 3, 4, or 5 triggering scatters, respectively, and the Wild serves double duty as a Collector symbol during the Bonus Round. The fish cash prize symbols come with values between 2x and 10,000x your stake, but you need the Collector Wild in view to collect the prizes. All present wilds will collect all present prizes, just to be clear.
In addition, the Collector Wilds themselves are collected in the multiplier trail above the grid, and this is how you progress along it. Collecting 4 wilds increases the cash prize multiplier to x2 first, then to x3, and finally to x10. You also get +10 extra spins for each multiplier upgrade, and the new batch of spins play out after the first batch has played out. The multiplier is only upgraded for the new batch of spins, and not immediately.
You cannot get more extra spins once you have reached the x10 multiplier level, but there is a random feature that can trigger in all stages of the bonus round. This is the bazooka feature that adds random fish prize symbols once in a while, if you land a spin with at least one wild but no fish prizes to collect.
In addition to the fish cash prizes, you can also land Money Symbols (coins or diamonds) with prizes between 1x and 2,000x your stake. You need 3 Money Symbols in view to trigger the Hold & Spinner feature, and you start with 4 respins on a new grid where only blanks and money symbols appear.
The triggering money symbols are already sticky on the grid, and any new money symbols resets the spin tally to 4 again. New money symbols do not stick to the grid, however, but the sticky money symbols pay each time a new money symbol lands. Non-UK players can purchase either of the bonus features for 100x the stake. The free spins round comes with an organic hit rate of 1 in 233 spins.

Review Summary
The excitement is not really the same as it used to be whenever we encounter a new installment in the Big Bass series. Adding new twists and different visual experiences works for a while, but we wouldn’t mind something brand new or more experimental in future installments. Big Bass Bonanza Hold and Spinner comes with the same old bonus round, but with the added Hold & Spinner feature that is brand new.
The Hold & Spinner feature sticks out since the triggering symbols pay persistently for each new money symbol you land, but the waterfall looks a bit strange with the cross section of the pond behind it. Anyway, the 10,000x potential is higher than usual for this series, and it comes with a solid hit rate of 1 in 2,750,653 spins.
