This release has an idyllic beach setting, and you get a good view of the waves washing in as the 5x3 grid does not cover more than around 50 % of the screen. Bananza revolves around what is known as the Gonzo mechanic. A blinged up monkey wearing a Hawaii shirt and sunglasses keeps you company on the left-hand side, holding onto his cocktail as he reacts to anything that happens.

The reels are filled with different more or less exotic fruit symbols, and decent payouts are possible also in the base game. This is thanks to the progressive Cascading Win Multiplier, and it gets enhanced when you’ve collected enough cascades to trigger Golden Spins mode. The multiplier trail becomes even more lucrative in the bonus round, and up to 3,400x your stake is the most you can hope for at any time.

Bananza Slot Features

The fruit symbols pay between 2.5 and 100 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the golden monkey head Wild symbol steps in for all symbols to help complete and/or improve wins. It can also help trigger the bonus round by substituting as a scatter. The wild holds no value of its own, however, and all winning symbols are removed and replaced via the Cascading mechanic. The win multiplier increases by +1 per consecutive cascade, and it can go as high as x5 at best.

All cascades are collected, and you need to collect 50 cascades in total to trigger the Golden Spins feature. This gives you 10 golden spins where the cascading win multiplier increments from x2 to x4, x6, and x10 when you land 4 cascades in a row. These are still paid spins though, just to be clear.

You need 3 disco golden banana scatters on a payline to trigger the Bonus Round, and this awards 10 free spins. The cascading win multiplier will increment from x3 to x6, x9, and x15 during the bonus round, but the multiplier resets between spins also during this feature.

Review Summary

This game has mixed together somewhat incongruent elements, but it sort of works anyway. You get an idyllic beach setting combined with fruit symbols, which is not too uncommon, and then there are the disco and bling elements that don't quite fit the bill. Or maybe it does, and we’re just not getting it. Anyway, the gameplay itself is simple enough, and everything revolves around the progressive multiplier system.

You can win up to 2,500x your stake from a single base game spin, via the x5 multiplier, and even more in total on the way there. You also get rewarded for sticking to your guns, with Golden Spins with an enhanced multiplier range on a regular basis. Then comes the bonus round, with even higher multipliers up to x15, and the overall 3,400x potential is decent for a mid-level installment like this. Fans of the Gonzo mechanic will probably enjoy this, and it comes with a nice sea view to boot.
