The Dream Drop Jackpot slots are becoming increasingly popular. We certainly enjoyed the original Banana Town, as we do with most retro pixel slots, and Banana Town Dream Drop is pretty much a remake of the original with the progressive jackpots added.
The monkey business is running high in this game as well, and the RTP has dropped to 94 % in this version. Jackpot chasers that are also fans of the nostalgic 8-bit format will probably be pleased, however, but keep in mind that the chase can be expensive in the long run. The symbol multiplier system works the same as before, and the multipliers never reset for the duration of the bonus round.
Banana Town Dream Drop Slot Features
You need between 8 and 12+ matching symbols anywhere in view to win. This pays between 0.5 and 2 x your stake for 8 in view, and 2 to 12 x your stake is awarded when you land wins with 12+ matching symbols. The 5 monkey characters are the premium symbols, and there are no wild symbols in this game at all. Winning symbols are removed and replaced via the Cascading mechanic, and this process repeats as long as you keep winning.
All pay symbols are stacked in ascending order in the Multiplier Meter seen on the right-hand side, and the multipliers all start at x1. The corresponding symbol multiplier doubles per cascading win a specific symbol is part of, and the multipliers boost any win the relevant symbols create. Symbol multipliers can get random upgrades at the start of a spin, and the multiplier can go as high as x64 per symbol.
You need 3+ scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and this gives you 8 free spins. In addition, you get +1 spin on top of that per additional triggering scatter. All Multiplier Levels in the Meter are carried over from the base game, and the multipliers never reset for as long as the feature lasts. You can win extra free spins from the bonus symbol, and the multipliers keep building like in the base game.
The Dream Drop Jackpot Bonus can trigger at any given time before a spin, and this gives you 15 boxes to pick from. Each pick reveals a jackpot symbol, and you need to match up 3 ackpots to win the corresponding prize. The seed value for the Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major, and Mega jackpots are £1, £5, £100, £25,000, or £500,000, respectively. The Mega Jackpot can/will eventually reach £10 million.
Review Summary
The nostalgic value of retro 8-bit slots should not be underestimated, and many players appreciate each and every one that is released. Us included, of course, and we had a blast with the original Banana Town. As usual with these Dream Drop remakes, the only reason to not go with the original game would be to chase the potentially life-changing Mega Jackpot. Otherwise, you are simply paying extra for nothing.
We find the DD Jackpot concept to be a bit too complicated with the whole “at one time in the future the Mega Jackpot will reach £10 million” thing. The 94 % RTP is already well below the original, and keep in mind that 12 percentage points of it goes to feed the jackpots. If you enjoyed the original, and want to throw yourself on the jackpot bandwagon, well, then this is the game for you.
