Symbols drop down between two massive pillars, and everything is set against a majestic starry sky. The All-Father is watching over everything, and it’s clear that the game looks awesome. The core mechanics and features are similar to another 'Gold' series.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, and copycatting is part of the creative process in many cases. The game is all about expanding the grid via consecutive Rolling Reel wins, and you’ll also benefit from Jumbo symbols and Second Chance scatters. The grid is saved at the achieved size in the bonus round, where wilds also accumulate until they partake in a win. The 5,000x potential is decent.

Asgardian Fire Slot Features

The mid to top-value symbols award between 1 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol can land on reels 2 to 6 to help complete and/or improve wins. It does so by substituting for pay symbols, but the Wild symbol does not hold any value of its own in Asgardian Fire Slot.

The Escalating Ways mechanic goes hand in hand with the Rolling Reels feature, which means that winning symbols are removed and replaced for as long as your winning streak lasts. In addition, the grid expands with 1 extra row per Rolling Reels win, and up to 4 extra rows can be added this way. The grid tops out at 262,144 win ways, and everything resets between base game spins.

Pay symbols can land as Jumbo Blocks, and they come in size 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 on reels 2 to 6 only. If there are empty positions beneath a Jumbo Block, the positions are filled with wild symbols. This is known as the Wild Fill feature.

The Second Chance feature triggers every time you land a scatter in view, and this happens after the Rolling Reels sequence has played out. Up to 12 symbols around the scatter will then explode and be removed, and this triggers a new cascade. Other scatters, as well as wild symbols and jumbo blocks, are not removed, however.

You need 3 scatters in view to trigger the Asgardian Fire Bonus Round, and this gives you 6 free spins. You win +3 additional free spins per additional triggering scatter above 3, and non-UK players can purchase extra spins via the Upsizer feature. The bonus round can be retriggered as well, and you start out with 4 rows. The Elevator moves up +1 row per consecutive rolling reels win, and it tops out at row 8.

Wherever the Elevator is situated is the number of rows you get per drop for the rest of the bonus round. Wilds that do not partake in a win accumulate at the bottom of the grid between spins/drops until they do partake in a win. Non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can pay 70x, 100x, 125x, 140x, or 300x the stake to get 6, 9, 12, 15, or 25 free spins, respectively.

Review Summary

The sky in the bonus round backdrop is certainly impressive, and so is the overall visual presentation for that matter. The game relies heavily on similar mechanics. The rolling reels grid expansion system is lifted from a popular ‘Gold’ series, and jumbo blocks with wild fill is not really an original innovation either.

The game would definitely have benefitted from some original and innovative features added to the mix, and the closest you get is the Second Chance feature. There was a sense of something lacking in the bonus round as well, as the only extra you get is wild accumulation at the bottom of the grid and locked grid expansion levels. Asgardian Fire is still an engaging and fun game though, don’t get us wrong, but it’s not quite up there with the sources of inspiration except for in the audiovisual department.
