The predecessor release, Hades: River of Souls, is somewhat underappreciated in our view, and perhaps a more fun and lighthearted theme is what is needed to give the wild collect multiplier concept mainstream appeal. Animal Carnival comes with fun animal animations, and apparently the animals live in a circus wagon in the middle of the forest.
A river runs through this follow-up release as well, but it’s not separating the living from the dead as far as we can tell. It might separate the circus animals from something though, but they seem mostly unconcerned about it. You get to build total avalanche win multipliers via the wild collect system, and there are a couple of random features as well. The bonus round is the big highlight, and the max win is a solid 5,000x your stake.
Animal Carnival Slot Features
The premium animal symbols pay between 2.5 and 3.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild pays 5x your stake for the same. The Wild symbol also steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins, and it can appear on all 5 reels. The similarities to Hades River of Souls are obvious, and we preferred the stylish Greek mythology theme to be honest. Animal Carnival comes with plenty of fun animations and animal antics though, so it will probably appeal to those who crave humorous elements instead of the dark mysticism of the predecessor. The pace is decent with the turbo switched on, but racking up a significant multiplier isn’t all that easy.
The math model is pretty similar to the original game as well, although the RTP has been sliced down to a less decent 95.64 %. You can still win up to 5,000x your stake, which is a tad lower than the 5,058x on offer in Hades. The multiplier comes more to its right when it never resets in the bonus round, and getting a fair amount of extra spins seemed to be the norm rather than the exception. Overall, a decent carnival installment with some fun antics, but nothing too memorable either.
