Alexander may have been a great conqueror, but he was not all that great at administering his growing empire. It collapsed not too long after his death in 323 BC, and he was only 32 years old when he drew his final breath. The cause of death is thought to be malaria or typhoid fever, but his name has certainly echoed through eternity forever associated with ‘Great’. This game attempts to portray some of his greatness, and the result gave us mixed feelings.

The visuals are a bit too bland and generic, although you get a change of scenery when you reach a new stage. Stage 1 and 2 are hardly very exciting to be honest, and you’ll need patience to power through all the stages until you max out everything in stage 4. Each stage expands the grid, and multiplier wilds are also introduced in stage 3. They become semi-sticky in stage 4, and sticky in the bonus round. The 10,467x potential is solid though, and players who enjoy progression type games will probably enjoy what’s on offer in Alexander The Great World Conqueror.

Alexander The Great World Conqueror Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 1.5 and 3 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and between 2 to 6 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins on the expanded grid (more about that below). You can land Alexander Wilds on any reel except the first reel, and he steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve winning combos. Wilds can be upgraded with modifiers as well, as we shall see below.

You will progress through 4 unique stages as you play, and you start out in Macedon. Collecting 10 Aristotle symbols takes you to Egypt in stage 2, and collecting 10 more takes you to Babylonia in stage 3. Collect 10 more of the Greek philosopher, and you’re taken to the final stage 4, which plays out in Persia.

Each stage comes with unique rules and different setups, and below is an overview of what you can expect:

• Conquest of Egypt (stage 2) - adds an extra row to the grid, giving you a 5x4 reels setup with 1,024 win ways.
• Conquest of Babylonia (stage 3) - adds another reel to the already expanded grid, which gives you a 6x4 reels setup with 4,096 win ways. Also, wilds can now land with multiplier values of x2 to x5.
• Conquest of Persia (stage 4) - adds yet another row to the grid, which gives you a 6x5 reels setup with 15,625 win ways. Wilds can now both land with multipliers and be sticky for up to 5 spins in the base game. Wilds are sticky for the duration of the bonus round whenever they appear.

The Alexander’s Treasure Bonus Round triggers when you land 3 scatters in view, and each scatter flips to reveal a number between 1 and 7. The numbers are added together as your total number of free spins, which will be between 3 and 21. Scatters award between 1 and 7 extra spin per symbol during the feature, and Aristotle does not appear in the bonus round. Other than that, the feature is modified according to your achieved stage as described above.

Review Summary

One could argue that Alexander must have done something right in order for his name to be associated with ‘Great’ for more than 2,300 years. However, what he did was probably not seen as very great from the perspective of his opponents and their families. This is a decent historical slot, but visually it’s far from the ‘greatest’ game we’ve seen.

If you enjoy progressing through different stages, and have the patience for it, Alexander The Great World Conqueror does turn into a pretty decent game when you reach the final stage 4. It will probably take 400 to 500 spins to get there though, and you have to commit to whatever bet level you choose. Both the base game and the bonus round keeps improving, but the feature didn’t trigger all that often for us at least. The 10,467x potential is unusually solid though, but not everyone has the stamina and bankroll to commit to this conquering adventure.
