In a somewhat unexpected twist, a book slot has been created in the epic Age of the Gods series. It’s hardly “done by the book” however, and it demonstrates clearly that the simple concept can be re-created in ever new and exciting ways. You can place bets between 10p and £500 per spin here, which is a very solid bet range considering the high potential.
Just like with most Ra clones, it’s all about the bonus round here. The base game offers decent wild payouts, but it’s mostly a grind until you finally get the free spins. This is not uncommon in the “book of” world, but you also have random jackpots that can be won at any time here. The only drawback is the somewhat low RTP of 95.22 %, but that’s far from a deal-breaker when everything else is top notch.
Age of the Gods Norse: Book of Dwarves Features
Unlike most book slots, Book of Dwarves comes with a wild symbol that’s separate from the book scatter. The W symbol will step in for all regular symbols, and it’s also the highest value symbol in the game. Land 5 on a payline, and you’ll win 50x your stake.
The bonus round is triggered when you land at least 3 book scatters anywhere on the same spin. The book opens up to reveal a special chosen symbol, and this will be the expanding symbol during the free spins round. Unlike other book slots however, the special symbol expands into a 3x3 mega symbol here, instead of covering an entire reel.
You get 10 free spins to start with, and on the left-hand side you’ll see a meter. All scatter books you land during the bonus round are collected in this meter, and you can level up 3 times to get both extra spins and a new expanding symbol. It works as follows:
- Level 1 (starting level) - gives you 10 spins with 1 lower value expanding symbol.
- Level 2 (4 books collected) - gives you 5 extra spins with 1 new expanding symbol (low or premium).
- Level 3 (9 books collected in total) - gives you 4 extra spins with 1 additional high value expanding symbol.
- Level 4 (15 books collected in total) - gives you 3 extra free spins, and now the wild symbols will also expand to 3x3 mega wilds.
When you reach at least level 2, all lower value special symbols will transform into the higher value special symbol before they expand. This happens if, and only if, you land the lower value special symbol together with a higher value special symbol.
You can also retrigger the bonus round by landing at least 3 book scatters on the same spin. You will then get the same amount of free spins as the level you have achieved. To be clear, level 1 gives you 10 new spins, while level 2, 3 and 4 gives you 5, 4 or 3 extra spins, respectively. There is no limit as to how many times you can do this.

Age of the Gods Norse: Book of Dwarves turns out to be a very potent and interesting mix of two different worlds. The concept has cleverly expanded on the book slot, and made something quite unique. The base game is a grind because of the high volatility and lack of features, but all is forgiven when you hit the very exciting bonus round.
Reaching level 2, which gives you 5 extra spins and another expanding symbol, is pretty easy here. Getting to level 4 (with expanding wilds) is far from easy however, but should you get so lucky the max win of 10,000x is probably within reach. The RTP of 95.22 % is a bit lower than other Age of the Gods games, but overall this is a very strong addition to both the book slot series and the Age of the Gods series.
