Review of 3 Porky Banks
3 Porky Banks is a new online game. It features a classic money theme with diamonds, gold bars, and piggy bank characters. The game is set on a 5x3 grid inside a bank vault, with the 3 piggies on top. The soundtrack is a bit unusual, but it adds a folksy vibe.
Landing 3 to 5 matching symbols on any of the 25 paylines results in a win from left to right. Diamonds are the most valuable symbols, followed by gold bars, a clip of cash, and piles of coins. These symbols award between 5x and 10x your stake for 5-of-a-kind wins. The royal symbols pay a bit less, with 2x your stake for the same. Wild symbols can appear on all 5 reels, and the free spins round boasts x2 multiplier wilds.
While there aren't a lot of bonus features in the base game, you'll notice that colored coins are collected by the piggie atop the grid. You'll need to land at least 6 coins anywhere on the reels to activate the Hold and Win feature. At least one of the triggering coins will be a piggy modifier coin though, and only triggering modifier coins can land during the bonus.
The goal is to fill the entire grid with coins, which awards the 5,000x Grand Jackpot. You can also land special jackpot coins to win smaller jackpots. This is a highly volatile game, so adjust your bet level accordingly. The RTP is below average. However, the max win potential of 15,000x your stake might just make it worth the risk.
3 Porky Banks Features
You get wild symbols in the base game, with occasional coin showers helping you trigger the Hold and Win Bonus Game. There is also a Free Spins round.
Wilds Symbols
Wild symbols can land on all 5 reels, substituting for regular pay symbols to complete or improve wins. Wilds also pay 1x, 2.5x, or 10x your stake for 3, 4, or 5 wild symbols on the same payline, respectively.
3 Porky Banks Free Spins
You need to land a scatter symbol on reels 1, 3, and 5 to trigger the Bonus Round, and you start with 8 free spins. The feature can be retriggered the same way, awarding 8 extra free spins each time. The triggering scatters pay 2x your stake, and all wilds land with an x2 multiplier in the bonus round. This multiplier boost wins the wild partake in, and the Hold and Win feature can trigger during free spins.
Coin Shower
At random times, coins can rain down onto the grid and help trigger the Hold and Win Bonus Game.
Hold and Win
Landing 6+ Coin symbols triggers the Hold and Win Bonus Game, and all the triggering coins become sticky on a new grid. Only blanks, coins, and special modifier coins appear during this feature, and the respins tally resets to 3 each time you land a new coin. All coins become sticky, and the 3 modifier coins work as follows:
- Blue Coin - applies an x2 multiplier to all present coins before turning into a random cash coin.
- Purple Coin - turns into either a random cash coin or a jackpot coin.
- Red Coin - collects the value from all present coins.
It’s important to note that you can only land special modifier coins that were part of the triggering spin. Regular cash coins come with values between 1x and 12x your stake, and filling the grid awards the 5,000x Grand Jackpot. The Mini, Minor, and Major jackpot coins award 15x, 50x, or 150x your stake, respectively. These can also land organically during the bonus.

Our Verdict
The most surprising thing about 3 Porky Banks is that the coin collection feature doesn't trigger the Hold and Win Bonus with the corresponding piggy modifiers active. Other than that, 3 Porky Banks is a fairly typical game in the money theme genre.
As I mentioned in the intro, the soundtrack is another curveball. It's pleasant enough, but the laid-back vibe feels more suited to a countryside fishing game than a slot about wealth and riches. The 3 piggies are charming in their own superficial way, but the base game definitely needs more excitement. Relying solely on line wins and wilds feels a bit outdated, and I prefer a more balanced experience with some base game modifier action.
The coin collection feature supposedly increases your chances of triggering the Coin Shower, which again helps trigger the Hold and Win Bonus. However, this doesn't happen very often in my experience. The free spins round offers some extra potential with x2 multiplier wilds, but limiting them to x2 seems a bit stingy. I experienced that the Hold and Win feature triggered more often during the free spins round though, but this is pure speculation.
While it's not the height of innovation, at least you get some decent modifier coins in the Hold and Win Bonus. Unfortunately, it's rare to get more than one modifier coin active, which left me wishing more of them could be triggered during the bonus. The 15,000x max win is solid enough, but the RTP is well into deal-breaker territory. Overall, 3 Porky Banks is an okay release, but with no bonus buy feature, it can take a good while to experience the main attraction with all 3 modifiers active.
